JOB SUMMARY

The Sponsored Programs Coordinator (Coordinator III) will assist faculty with preparation of proposals to external sponsors seeking financial support of their projects. Review of proposal materials in preparation for submission. Review of award documents in preparation for negotiation and signature. Communication with faculty on the status of their proposals/awards. Function as a resource to assist faculty with interpretation of agreement terms, regulations and institutional practices.

This position is a two-year appointment, with possible extension depending on business needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist faculty with proposal preparation—find/interpret forms, prepare budgets, interpret RFP language, provide institutional information for the proposal
  • Data entry into University systems of record for tracking proposals and awards
  • Maintenance of files of record for proposals and awards
  • Assist faculty with locating potential funders
  • Coordinate with University consultants supporting proposal preparation.
  • Provides assistance to the Director of Sponsored Programs in the following tasks:
    • Facilitate communication between the faculty member and other offices as necessary; interpret and explain terms that may be applicable to a faculty member's project

    • Review and help revise, if necessary, terms of award documentation

    • Provide institutional endorsement of proposals


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School education or the equivalent
  • Four years of administrative support experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience working with sponsored projects
  • Administrative support experience in Higher Education
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to interpret complex situations and produce results in a sporadically fast-paced deadline-driven role. The ability to read, interpret, and explain rules, regulations, policies, laws, and contract terms.
