Job Description: Job Summary: Responsible for performing advanced, diversified and confidential support duties for the Legal Counsel, working on conservatorship cases and other general legal cases. Prepares correspondence of legal nature, such as contracts, briefs, pleadings in conservatorship cases, motions, and papers for filing in tribal court. Performs special projects and assist with general legal matters; along with general administrative support such as receiving telephone calls and filing.
Job Duties:
- Provides support for the Legal Counsel by drafting pleadings and other legal documents. Proofreads legal documents.
- Interacts and provides assistance to General Legal Counsel and other outside legal counsel. Conducts independent research and analysis. Review legal documents and forms. Screen and monitor all incoming telephone calls, emails and information for the Legal Department and provide follow-up.
- Assist Community Members and employees with general legal matters and provide necessary guidance.
- Establishes and maintains files and records relating to administrative and litigation matters.
- Maintain a calendar for attorney(s) and assure that complete information is available for all matters.
Requirements:
- Paralegal certification
- Three years of legal experience.
- Ability to type 60 words per minute.
- Proficiency in word-processing, spreadsheets, presentation, database, electronic mail software.
- Ability to read, draft, analyze and interpret common legal documents and pleadings.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in oral and written form with all levels of management.
- Ability to organize documents, pleadings and files.
