Job Description

they do. As a leader of store teams your role is to enable your team to deliver a destination shopping
experience by providing a safe and secure environment for our guests, mitigate shortage risks in order to
drive sales, improve accuracy and instocks through theft prevention and resolution, and lead through
crisis events to protect our guest, team and brand.
ALL ABOUT ASSETS PROTECTION
The AP team's function is to provide a safe and secure environment for our team members and guests,
and meet the financial goals of shortage and profitability in a Target store. AP teams will do this by
leading a physical security and safety culture and responding to crisis events, investigating and resolving
theft, and creating awareness and educating team members on operational shortage priorities.

build and develop skills for a career. The role of an Assets Protection Business Partner
can provide you with the:
• Skills in business financials (e.g., payroll, profit and loss) and driving shortage reduction
• Skills in driving business and market specific strategies by leveraging data and metrics and
partnering with store and district leadership to deliver results through your team
• Experience managing a remote team in a multi-unit market made up of leaders of leaders through
multiple layers
• Experience influencing talent strategies in a multi-unit market and building skills in recruiting,
selecting and talent development for hourly and exempt leaders in Assets Protection roles
• Ability to influence and provide thoughtful feedback to key partners (e.g. District/Store leadership,
HR, HQ) to support company and Assets Protection initiatives
As an Assets Protection Business Partner no two days are ever the same, but a typical
day will most likely include the following responsibilities:
Drive your business to grow sales
• Lead, influence and validate a safe and secure culture by driving physical security process,
leading district response in emergency crisis situations and resolving all significant incidents (e.g.,
robbery, burglary). Educate store teams on emergency preparedness and physical security
procedures
• Develop and communicate district AP strategies and priorities, including tactical plans, training
and expectations, to your team, peers and leadership
• Be financially accountable in your district by prioritizing and driving continuous improvement.
Establish a culture of accountability for your teams through clear expectations and performance
management
• Train and validate AP store teams are anticipating and identifying shortage risks in key divisions
and developing tactics to reduce shortage and drive profitable sales, and ensure product is in
stock and available for our guests
• Drive district results on prevention, resolution and apprehension on theft, both internal and
external, according to compliance standards and proper documentation
• Resolve alerts and organized retail crime cases in partnership with field and HQ partners
Cultivate a guest-centric salesforce to drive sales and efficiency
• Lead a district team of AP store leaders to drive total store sales and increase profitability
• Develop a talent strategy that makes Target an employer of choice, attracts candidates and
retains talent
• Foster an inclusive, diverse, safe and secure culture; create an environment of openness, trust
and recognition, and reward great performance
• Build relationships inside and outside Target, including district and store leaders, law enforcement
and industry partners to identify market trends and understand asset protection strategies of
competition. Ensure our teams and tactics maintain Target's reputation
• Lead safety programs and best practices within a district and evaluate injury trends to prevent
future incidents
• Demonstrate a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance. Lead team to work in the same
way and hold others accountable to this commitment
• All other duties based on business needs
The good news is that we have some amazing training that will help teach you everything
you need to know to be an Assets Protection Business Partner. But there are a few skills
you should have from the get-go:
• 4 year degree or equivalent experience
• Meet any state or local licensure and/or other legal requirements related to the position
• 3+ years of retail loss prevention experience
• Proven execution skills and ability to drive change
• Experience influencing key business partners
• Operate in an ambiguous and rapidly changing work environment
• Quickly adapt to changing priorities and tasks
• Project and process management/ownership experience
• Work in high intensity situations with composure and ease
• Solution-based mindset with desire to uncover business gaps and solve problems
• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
• Establish and maintain cross-functional working relationships
