Position Description

This position is responsible for the development and implementation of UCare strategies to advance relationships with counties and tribal nations in support of UCare's mission. Lead UCare's work with counties/tribal nations through meetings, information and data sharing, grant management and other projects. Increase UCare's local presence with counties and initiate relationships with tribal nations. Work cross-departmentally to carry out UCare's work with county human services, public health agency partners and tribal nations and ensure county/tribal concerns are fully addressed. This position requires reliable transportation for travel throughout the state.

• Assist in strengthening existing county relationships and initiating new public health collaborative work.

• Develop and implement tribal relationships and collaborations.

• Collaborate across UCare to strengthen county and tribal relationships through effective communication and addressing requests, concerns and recommendations regarding UCare and its delivery of services. Log communications for review, trend/root cause analysis, follow-up and reporting. Coordinate and draft and/or review related communications for timely and effective responses to inquiries and concerns.

• Gather and compile information across UCare about county/tribal nations touch points. Report results and recommendations on a regular basis to appropriate management and internal areas/teams.

• Support the development and implementation of outreach strategies and projects that increase UCare engagement with counties and tribal nations, including sharing information with and from counties and tribal nations.

• Support development, analysis, sharing of results and development of related action items related to the annual UCare county survey. Develop method for collecting feedback on UCare services from tribal nations. Analyze, respond to and take necessary action based on the results of the Department of Human Services (DHS) annual county survey.

• Research and draft responses to assigned topics in DHS Requests for Proposals.

• Provide UCare information for, and attend, conferences and statewide meetings as appropriate.

• Support UCare work on grants to counties and tribal nations.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree in public health or related field.

Required Experience

Three years' experience in a managed care organization, local public health agency or tribal nation building relationships with county social services, public health, tribal nations and/or other community-based organizations.

Preferred Experience

Experience with Minnesota Health Care Programs, Minnesota Department of Human Services managed care contracting and/or with government regulators. Project management experience and experience presenting to audiences.
