JOB POSITION: Senior Engineer

LOCATION:33South6thStreet, Minneapolis, MN 55402

DUTIES: Document all scope, business requirements, design steps, and technical standards for Target specific software applications in Confluence and SharePoint as part of configuration management; work on unit testing and help support quality and support tests following software development; create comprehensive databases of user requirements, defects and procedures to enable accurate replication and ensure compliance with standards; collaborate with team for innovation, defect management, and configuration management; document all information regarding business requirements, steps taken to develop or resolve issue, and tests performed in Jira for execution and tracking; use technology acumen to apply and maintain knowledge of current and emerging technologies within specialized areas of the technology domain; evaluate new technologies and participate in decision-making, accounting for several factors such as viability within Target's technical environment, maintainability, and cost of ownership and continuous improvement of processes; participate in construction, automation, and implementation activities, ensuring successful implementation with architectural and operational requirements and best practices met. Tools and skills used: Hadoop, JSON, HDFS, Hive,Sqoop, Kafka, Apache Spark, Teradata, Shell Script, YAML, Control-M, PostgreSQL, Automation Portal, Greenfield/Webfocus,Oozieworkflows/coordinators, Jira,QuerySurge, Jenkins, Agile, andGit.

REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related field and at least three (3) years of experience in software engineering (any title) preparing test plans and system integration test cases in Jira, creating comprehensive databases, working with defect & configuration management, and performing application design review, testing, and documentation in an Agile environment. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, or a closely related field and at least five (5) years of post-baccalaureate, progressive experience in software engineering (any title) preparing test plans and system integration test cases in Jira, creating comprehensive databases, working with defect & configuration management, and performing application design review, testing, and documentation in an Agile environment.
