This includes leveraging data, analytics, and insights to drive merchandising strategy, planning, and execution, utilizing both internal and external data to drive decision making. In this role, you will be working hand-in-hand with the business and technical leaders to drive insights priorities across Merchandising. In addition, this role will be responsible for advancing the disciplines of category management and assortment planning, while leading all data partnerships and market share reporting.

  • Lead efforts to advance the insights toolkit used across Merchandising, with specific focus on guest and competitive data utilization across all lines of business
  • Elevate the weekly/monthly/quarterly business routines through broad use of data and insights across key assortment planning milestones to drive more guest-relevant assortments
  • Lead a team that partners with the business leaders to develop long and short-term Insights roadmaps to drive category strategies and tactics to drive sustained financial growth and market share gains
  • Serve as a key resource with our technical product teams, working in partnership to drive automation, efficiency, and improvements within our reporting toolkit
  • Lead the prioritization and utilization of all competitive and market data priorities, including the management of all onsite market data partner teams, while keeping our external data assets on the leading edge
  • Lead the Category Management function at Target, spanning the full administration, training, support, and evolution of all internal/external category captains, advisors, and support teams.
  • Serve as a face to senior leaders, presenting in key quarterly strategy sessions while also helping serve on various strategic work streams
  • Serve as a champion of data-driven decisions committed to advancing Target's capabilities in Merchandising
  • Be the voice and steward of insights to drive our Merchandising strategies while providing key updates in various leader forums


About You:
  • College Degree, MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of relevant business experience in category management and/or buying/planning
  • Experience utilizing syndicated, 3rd party data resources to understand market measurement and trends
  • Experience with category management and omni-channel retail experience preferred
  • Excellent leadership, analytical, decision-making and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of agile principles and product disciplines
  • Strong conceptual skills and ability to translate concepts into actionable insights and tactics
  • Ability to synthesize and clearly communicate highly complex findings to focus on critical issues and actionable opportunities
  • Inquisitive on Big Data technology; current on new ideas and tools
