Senior Product Development Scientist
Milk Specialties Global has an opening in Eden Prairie, Minnesota for a Senior Product Development Scientist. Check raw ingredients for maturity or stability for processing, and finished products for safety, quality, and nutritional value. Inspect product processing areas to ensure compliance with government regulations and standards. Study methods to support ingredient application and manufacturing process development efforts from early feasibility through launch. Develop improved ways of preserving, processing and packaging products, using knowledge of chemistry, microbiology, and other sciences. Seek substitutes for harmful or undesirable additives. Study structure and composition of protein products in storage and processing. Develop high protein product solutions for sports and lifestyle nutrition markets. Assist in the development of quality assurance programs for product processing and storage operations. Demonstrate the products to clients. Manage product development technicians. Review new regulations and current events regarding dairy science. Develop standards and production specifications, safety and sanitary regulations. Provide technical support to sales team for product applications and raw materials. Develop new high protein products for production, based on consumer feedback. Support internal research & development and operation teams as needed. Collaborate with teams to resolves problems in product development. Full Requirements: Master’s degree or equivalent foreign degree in Food Science, Dairy Technology, or Biological Sciences, plus two (2) years of experience in leading projects for the characterization and application of milk proteins for food or sports nutrition products, lab management in the area of sophisticated analysis technique and process analysis for the production of milk proteins, evaluating technologies designed to improve the quality of proteins, managing research and development operations to assist in business areas related to both production and sales.
