Writer
House Public Information Services
A full-time temporary position is available with the Minnesota House of Representatives as a writer for the nonpartisan Public Information Services office. The office supports the mission of the House of Representatives through news and information services, including: reporting on committees and floor sessions, informational publications, photography and television coverage.
Duties are to write online content during the 2021 legislative session, including daily committee and floor session coverage and longer feature stories. Strong reporting and writing skills required. News reporting experience is a plus. Must be able to write clearly and quickly about complex subjects.
Must have a willingness to do a variety of tasks, including proofing and some social media activity. Understanding of state government, legislative and office procedures a must. Some long and irregular hours required.
Salary range is $882.40 - $1,058.40 per week, commensurate with experience. This position is anticipated to begin in early January and run approximately through the end of May, depending on session length.
