A role in Enterprise Risk Management means you will help identify and manage top strategic, financial, operational and compliance risks Target faces. You will also play a key role in coordinating and maintaining an enterprise response framework for these areas of risk.

The Lead Risk Consultant role is a strong individual contributor with identified areas of expertise for risk management & monitoring, focused on Target's enterprise risk portfolio. Role is responsible for drafting, finishing and presenting their own work to peers and leaders involved with subject matter content. Role concentrates on specific elements of the risk lifecycle (identification, assessment, treatment and monitoring) and must both execute the work product and develop appropriate maturity and evolution plans in accordance with the Target risk framework. Role will engage with cross-functional partners across the company, including subject matter leaders (VP+). Role must have exceptional communication skills and strong critical thinking skills.

Principle duties and responsibilities:
  • Lead the risk management cycle for a portion of the enterprise risk portfolio, including risk identification, assessment and ongoing risk monitoring and reporting
  • Conduct internal and external research on the root causes and key indicators associated with top enterprise risks and monitor these developments
  • Partner closely with peers and colleagues on Enterprise Risk Management team to identify and understand dependencies across all enterprise risks
  • Complete risk assessments for business risks as part of Target's Risk Universe
  • Maintain relationships with subject matter experts in different Target business units to understand objectives and to obtain internal and external data related to the enterprise risk portfolio
  • Develop work product for Target leaders and executives, including visualization of data and executive ready PowerPoint presentations
  • Perform special projects, analyses and studies to increase Target's understanding and awareness of specific enterprise risks and emerging risks
  • Publish internal and external research on Target's enterprise risk portfolio to Target's leadership, risk owners and teams and internal partners in Compliance and Internal Audit
  • Provide ongoing risk reporting to business partners to assist in planning and decision making, and ad-hoc assessments to assist business partners with point-in-time decisions


About you:
  • 5-7 years' experience in risk management, intelligence or insights, with a proven track record of using data to drive decision making
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent cognitive skills including analytical and problem solving abilities
  • Ability to handle multiple issues at once and prioritize urgent versus important
  • Proven ability to develop and leverage strong partnerships in order to obtain feedback and insight, influence, negotiate, and accomplish work through others
  • Proven ability to communicate complex ideas effectively
  • Strong strategic thinking skills to understand and anticipate the impact and opportunities across multiple projects
  • Strong interpersonal capabilities; able to present, influence and lead at all levels of the organization
  • Proven project leadership and business acumen; solid track record of execution and results
  • Proven ability to be a member of a team, open to new ideas and supportive of the team's success
  • Exceptional technology skills - proficient in Microsoft suite of products, Excel and remote workplace technology (Zoom)
