HQ Engineering and Activation A role in HQ Engineering and Activation means being at the heart of our perpetual reimagining. This group is the think tank and laboratory for the innovative ideas that spark change throughout the Supply Chain. We are inventors, metrics masters, data geeks, testers, triers, course-correctors and askers of the all-important question "What if ... ?". This team influences processes, engineers the robotics and automation to support those processes, activates solutions sustainably across the network and manages those assets. Your specific expertise-whether it's people, process, technology, or data-will be felt well beyond the boundaries of the Supply Chain organization, positively impacting Target team members and guests alike.

About the Job:

Transform Target's material handling automation systems to highly automated systems with robotics and transportation systems that are not tied to or require linear product flow. These systems are to have high levels of redundancy and operate in a matrixed flow. Teams work together to ensure a full service technical solution that meets operational needs and that is sustainable and supported in future years while still having the flexibility and scalability for future change.

The collective team owns the responsibility of the definition of the automation system technologies that will be deployed in Target facilities. The team supports all automation related activities which includes implementation and sustainability as well as any other automation integration activity that will help grow Target business. This role will join in a team of high level of technical competency in automated material flow system integrations, implementations and will work closely with internal and external technology partners to integrate the middleware systems necessary to enable flexible, scalable, and reliable automated systems.

This Product Owner role will lead supply chain automation and robotic system integration product strategies, development and rollout across a large scale of distribution facilities. The role will prioritize and lead desired outcomes in partnership with partner product owners, business stakeholders, vendor teams, internal engineers, UX designers, and data scientists. This role will influence co-creation within design elements and operational requirements for automation solutions to continuously improve facility performance by integrating technology seamlessly.

Product Teams at Target are accountable for the delivery of business outcomes enabled through technology and analytic products that are easy to use, easily maintained and highly reliable. Product teams have one shared backlog that is inclusive of all product, technology, discovery and design work.

As a Lead Product Owner, you will work in the product model and will partner to develop a comprehensive product strategy, related roadmap, and set key business objectives (OKRs) for your respective product. You will need to leverage the knowledge of your product, as well as, customer feedback and establish other relevant data points to assess value, develop business cases, and prioritize the direction and desired outcomes for your product. You will lead a product and work in unison with engineers, UX designers, data scientists and business partners to deliver a product.

You will be the "voice of the product" to key stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met and that the product team is getting the direction and support that it needs to be successful. You will develop and actively understand the market, maintain a product roadmap and backlog outlining the customer themes, epics, and stories while prioritizing the backlog to focus on the highest impact work for your team and stakeholders.

You will encourage the open exchange of information and viewpoints, as well as, inspire others to achieve challenging goals and high standards of performance while committing to the organization's direction. You will foster sense of urgency to achieve goals and leverage resources to overcome unexpected obstacles, and partner with product teams across the organization to help them achieve their goals while pursuing and completing yours. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

About you:
  • 6+ years of domain/engineering experience
  • 4-year college degree (or equivalent experience)
  • Expertise with Warehouse Execution Software (WES) or Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
  • User experience and customer focused with experience driving end state solutions for operational users
  • Understands automation and robotics in the market
  • Experience in building strategic and product roadmaps, ability to look at bigger picture and bring teams and partners along on vision planning
  • Embraces and develops processes, interest in optimization of end to end process
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with technology and ability to facilitate communication between business and technology teams
  • Experience working in an agile environment (e.g. user stories, iterative development, scrum teams, sprints, personas)
  • Proven ability to lead a body of work with cross functional partners
