Writing Specialist, McNair Scholars Program

The McNair Scholars Program seeks a dynamic and student-centered individual to serve as our Writing Specialist at 50% time for the annual year. The Writing Specialist will work closely with students on undergraduate research and graduate school application materials, such as personal statements, writing samples, and resumes/curriculum vitae. The program values team work, collaboration, and innovative thinking. The program provides a space for students that is supportive, equitable, and inclusive.

Minimum / Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s degree in English, communication, composition, or related degree
  • At least one year of writing tutoring or teaching experience
  • Knowledge of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) efforts, especially barriers faced by first-generation college students, low-income populations, and racially/ethnically diverse populations
  • Excellent communication, organization, and record-keeping skills
