Public Works Director

The City of Appleton is seeking applicants for the position of Public Works Director. Responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and scheduling personnel, materials, and equipment neces­sary to maintain the City’s streets, alleys, parking lots, sewer systems, water distribution system, parks, cemeteries, campground, brush site, airport, and other City owned facilities in good working order and to ensure that the needs of the City are adequately met. Minimum qualifications include: High School Diploma or GED, significant experience operating & maintaining heavy and light equipment, ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions performing heavy manual labor, ability to work a varied scheduled based on weather conditions and needs of the city, ability to work in controlled hazardous environments such as chemicals and within confined spaces, and the ability to read, write and speak English.

Preferred qualifications include: Class A Wastewater  Operator License or a Class B License with the ability to attain the required Licensure, Class C Water Operator License or a Class D License with the ability to attain the required Licensure , Valid Class B Minnesota Driver’s License with Air Brake endorsement, 6 or more years of experience as a general laborer or operator and 3 years supervisory experience in public works. The City of Appleton offers a competitive benefits package and compensation range for this position of $60,000.00 - $72,000.00 depending on qualifications and experience.
