The Cost Accountant will provide cost accounting and finance services in support of the organization’s business objectives. This role will perform cost and general accounting functions, prepare and analyze cost reports and costing audits and examine and review unusual cost records. There will be involvement with monthly analysis, forecasting and annual budgeting process. The Cost Accountant will process business transactions in various areas throughout the Finance function. The primary purpose of this position job is to support the manufacturing facility partnering with the leadership team by providing key business analytics and recommendations to drive profitability within the facility. The position will also ensure that the facility is in compliance with all relevant financial policies & procedures as well as maintaining the proper level of internal controls. This role reports directly to the Plant Finance Leader and supports the Plant Manager & other operational leaders in the facility.  

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

Provides input and analysis of data used for budgeting and forecasting

Assists the Plant Controller with ad hoc analysis

Responsible to collect & provide reliable and actionable financial analytics to facility leaders to assist in optimizing financial performance through the analysis of cost variances & other means

Collaborate with operations to identify & execute cost reduction & avoidance measures

Assists in monthly closings, including gathering and analyzing cost inputs and completing account reconciliations

Analyzes inventories of raw material

Participates in reviews of purchase requisitions

Works with operations personnel to analyze data and process modifications and to interpret financial reporting

 

Desired Skills and Experience

 

Bachelors Degree in Accounting , required

Cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.

Experience with manufacturing ERP financial system Ability to work with others and achieve results working as part of a team

Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Able to meet time commitments and perform work safely.

Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness, monitors own work to ensure quality.

Proficient use of Microsoft Office, especially Excel- Advanced.

Demonstrated ability to balance priorities that meet short and long-term objectives; uses organized and efficient work methods.
