Job Description

Job Summary:

Properly account for financial transactions according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and compliance standards.  Provide highly detailed analytical support and information to assigned departments, management, and auditors.  Independently resolve issues, multitask, and meet stringent deadlines.

 

Job Duties:

  1. Prepares journal entries to accurately reflect business transactions according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable compliance standards, and internal controls.
  2. Reconciles balance sheet accounts to ensure banking and third party transactions are correctly posted and outstanding issues are resolved in a timely manner.
  3. Ensures financial information is accurately captured and transferred between multiple systems and departments to minimize financial exposure from unauthorized access or flawed processes.
  4. Reviews budget variances and ensures explanations support data provided and supports annual budget development.
  5. Follows-up with management, departments, and vendors to clarify information, address concerns, and offer guidance.
  6. Provides information to Gaming Commission, Internal Audit, and external auditors as requested, and implement corrective action if necessary.
  7. Performs additional duties as assigned.


Days Monday - Friday Hiring Rate or Hiring Range Based on qualifications Requirements

Reflects minimum education and professional experience required to successfully meet the expectations for this position.

  1. Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience, or associate’s degree and four years of relevant experience. Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred. Must have experience in corporate accounting for a mid to large scale organization (1,000 plus employees) with multiple divisions and departments.
  2. High level of proficiency with financial accounting software, Dynamics GP preferred.
  3. High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel (functions, pivot tables, ability to organize large amounts of data, and basic knowledge of macros) and Word, and Adobe Professional.
  4. Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively communicate complex technical information with a diverse audience.
  5. Basic proficiency tests in accounting, Excel, Adobe Professional, and written communication will be administered prior to scheduled interview.
  6. Must be detail oriented, able to perform under pressure, multitask, and meet stringent deadlines.
  7. Must be available to work additional hours if necessary to meet financial and reporting deadlines.
  8. Must pass background check, drug test, and be able to lift 30 pounds.
