The Merchandise Excellence Team develops and aligns enterprise business planning, seasonal planning, activation and analytics. In addition, this team leads the company in establishing and implementing ongoing initiative intake and prioritization processes to continually assess, select and activate company priorities. In 2019, the team will have a heightened focus on optimizing strategy development and execution disciplines across the various routines in merchandising and that impact the company. Finally, the Merchandise Excellence team partners closely with Target's Merchandise Excellence Operations team (Chief of Staffs) to execute cross company routines.

As a Merchandise Excellence Senior Director, you will have to wear multiple different hats. Key goals will include:
  • Leads, develops and facilitates Quarterly Strategy Development with Merchandise Leadership Team in partnership the with newly developed quarterly cross functional team
  • Leads and develops Quarterly Business Review and Quarterly Business Preview in partnership with 50+ cross functional team
  • Partners with VP COS and GMM COS to develop and integrate quarterly enterprise initiatives
  • Define consistent seasonal strategy team within new structure in collaboration with broad cross functional team
  • Partner with Marketing and Site Merchandising to establish quarterly routines
  • Refine current strategy touch points to ensure clear deliverables
  • Streamline and drive consistency in all quarterly planning processes


About you:
  • 4-year college degree
  • 10+ years of experience
  • Merchandising background specifically within buying and understanding of both frequency, discretionary, national, and owned brand businesses
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Excellent knowledge of cross company interdependencies and responsibilities
  • Strong collaboration skills
  • Ability to develop strong cross functional partnerships
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Change management experience
