A role in Inbound Logistics means you will focus on the efficient transportation of products to the Target distribution network. Here, you will be challenged to pivot seamlessly from analysis and planning to work with internal partners to achieve the aggressive, transformative goals we have ahead of us. You will establish and develop great relationships with our carrier and 3PL partners to encourage on-time shipment and delivery. You will analyze transportation supplier capabilities for maximum speed, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. Focus on carrier relationship and engagement will be key to the success in this role.

Senior Analyst, Inbound Transportation

As a Sr Logistics Analyst, you will be responsible for assessing and improving the requirements of our network working through regional and national carriers or 3PL partners. You will identify opportunities for efficiency and contribute to a strong culture of excellence through process improvement and ensuring that clear expectations are set and met. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to ensure a high level of service, maximize efficiency and serve as a change agent to champion continuous improvement.

  • Advocate for decisions based on what is good for Target holistically and act as agents for change instead of accepting the status quo
  • Use data and metrics to understand the business, identify areas in need of improvement, support others and measure the impact of actions
  • Promote ownership and engagement across all levels
  • Think about problems and solutions creatively and without bias for the way work is currently done
  • Respond to large impact events and guest-facing defects with urgency and an "all hands on deck" attitude


Responsibilities:
  • Work with cross-functional teams to leverage the right data to drive superior execution of transportation solutions
  • Build rapport with carriers and 3PL partners through detail-oriented communication and a demonstration of competency and understanding of overall outbound logistics.
  • Ability to understand key operational processes across a variety of transportation modes and apply this knowledge across the network
  • Develop, support, and manage an efficient supply chain processes through communication, execution of special events, and HQ driven initiatives. Responsible for maintaining key relationships with internal business partners
  • Effective program management of steady-state and new services that are implemented in the distribution network
  • Proactive identification of problems, getting to the root cause, developing and implementing process improvements
  • Utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) that drive the team toward excellence

Qualifications:
  • 4-year degree in supply chain, operations, economics, or related field
  • Proven track record of taking ownership and driving results
  • Analytical, creative, and innovative approach to solving problems
  • Process-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills
  • Can make decisions with little to no guidance from a manager or other leaders
  • Strong passion for empirical research and for answering hard questions with data
  • Experience driving results of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) through carrier and 3rd Party Logistics partners
  • Business relationship building / engagement within the transportation industry
  • Transportation management experience preferred
