About the job:

As a Senior Manager UX, you'll lead a team of product designers who are altogether responsible for designing world-class experiences for Target Guests and Target Team Members. This includes the creation of entirely new experiences, as well as improvement to existing ones. You'll be well-positioned to make an impact as a member of a friendly and high-performing team operating at the heart of Target's growing digital business.

In this role, you will create strategic design deliverables (not limited to story maps, process maps, experience maps) for your entire portfolio of several teams. You will manage the performance and development of a team of product designers whose work spans related product teams and end-to-end experiences. You'll use your design-thinking expertise to facilitate activities with your team to provide work direction and guidance ensuring the team is continually experimenting, through product discovery and design sprints, with both next-generation ideas and optimizations in support of Target's business strategies, guest insights and business partner expectations.

You'll bring empathy and guest insights to every business problem. You'll participate in user research and leverage data and operational processes to inform design decisions. You'll help to define objectives and results with product, engineering and business partners. You'll push work forward with high standards and an approach that emphasizes the voice of the end user. You'll collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of UX leaders, UX designers, service designers, engineers, product owners, accessibility consultants, data analysts, operations and UX researchers.

You'll constructively challenge current thinking across the enterprise, pushing boundaries and driving change that will deliver exceptional user-centric experiences. You're a storyteller by nature, and you thrive on building relationships. You're a proactive agent of change with a bias toward action. You're skilled at influencing partners and working in a matrixed environment.

You'll recruit, hire and mentor world-class UX talent that exceed expectations of product and business partners and leadership. You'll prioritize UX resources and the work they're involved in, placing team members on high priority initiatives that complement their skills, career ambitions and growth opportunities. You'll continually coach UX team members on tactical design skills, softs skills and growth within their careers.

About you:

· 7+ years' experience in digital software product work, with user experience emphases in research, UX architecture, interaction design and/or visual design

· Must provide examples of successful UX team leadership and mentoring

· Expert skills in wire framing, visual design, prototyping, facilitation techniques and relationship building

· Experience both in-person and remote UX research methodologies and ability to conduct or partner with research expert

· Proven ability to successfully lead large-scale projects and initiatives involving multiple cross-functional teams

· Demonstrated strategic problem-solving and collaboration skills

· Demonstrated knowledge of modern design, prototyping and collaboration tools (such as Sketch, InVision and Conceptboard)

· Experience using data and research methodologies and ability to partner with research experts

· Able to work well in a large organization with many partners

· Able to communicate design decisions with grace, logic and data

· Must work well independently and can successfully lead large-scale projects and initiatives involving multiple cross-functional teams

· A portfolio featuring product design work
