ASSISTANT ATTORNEY GENERAL – HUMAN SERVICES DIVISION
The Office of the Minnesota Attorney General is seeking an attorney with at least 3 years of significant civil litigation experience to join our Human Services Division. Attorneys in the division represent the Department of Human Services before state district and appellate courts, federal district and appellate courts, agency Human Services judges, and the Office of Administrative Hearings, in all kinds of matters that can include licensing, section 1983 civil rights litigation, and reductions in custody for individuals committed as mentally ill and dangerous, sexual psychopathic personality, or sexually dangerous person. Attorneys in the division also regularly try cases and engage in significant pretrial discovery and motion practice on large, complex cases, including class actions. The ideal candidate should have at least three years of significant civil litigation experience, and that experience does not need to be limited to human services litigation.
