Description:
LEAD PRODUCT DESIGNER (UX) · Design Systems

About us:

Target is an iconic brand, a Fortune 50 company and one of America's leading retailers. Our purpose is to help all families discover the joy of everyday life. As a Lead Product Designer on our team you'll bring that purpose to life across Target.com, Target apps and more through the design of new retail experiences and the evolution of existing ones.

About the job:

As a Lead Product Designer, you'll drive the strategy and execution for our iOS and Android design system and contribute to the overall strategy and direction of Target's complete design system, including all guest-facing platforms and enterprise tools. You will lead the continued evolution of Target's design system through advocacy, education and collaboration with designers, engineers, product owners, accessibility and end-user. Your approach to UX design focuses on detail, high quality craft, and systematic thinking and enables you to own the entire design process, from start to finish.

In this role you will establish best practices and craft design- deliverables to build components and patterns for iOS and Android, leveraging native best-practices, and our global tokens. You'll think holistically about design system contributions to gauge how, or if they should be extended across multiple platforms such as Web Android and iOS. You'll be an active member of the UX team that is building Web, App, and Enterprise design systems at Target by documenting and advocating for consistency, accessibility and collaboration. You will directly contribute to a design systems team culture that is built on trust, collaboration and communication as we work towards bringing all of UX and Engineering into a more collaborative environment. You will leverage your influence and expertise to increase adoption, contribution and education of our design systems across multiple organizations.

You'll continuously engage with product, marketing and business teams to drive solutions that benefit both internal groups and our guests. As part of the design systems team, you'll deliver insight-driven designs and elegant solutions that improve cohesiveness, performance, and enable our UX and Engineering teams to work more efficiently.

You thrive at the intersection of design craft and strategy. You're a curious person who falls in love with problems and enjoys iterating toward a solution. You are passionate about design systems, systems-thinking and the value that it unlocks for UX, engineering, product and the guest. You have a strong knowledge of the HIG and Material design guidelines to craft solutions that feel right for their intended platform. You present work clearly and effectively to educate others and gain support. You value design that is accessible, welcoming, inspiring and simple.

You'll be the master of your own destiny in an environment that has strong support for work-life balance. We'll support you along the way with robust onboarding, as well as personal and career development, to help you grow as a strong Lead Product Designer. The exciting part of retail? It's always changing! Core responsibilities of this job are described within this job description. Job duties may change at any time due to business needs.

About you:
  • 7+ years of visual and interaction design experience
  • A portfolio featuring iOS and/or Android native design that has shipped
  • Demonstrated experience working with a design system
