Position Title Assistant Professor, Graphic Design - Art & Art History Division Academic Affairs Department/Office Art & Art History Position Summary

The School of Humanities, Arts and Sciences at St. Catherine University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in Graphic Design with a tenure track contract. This position is within the Art and Art History department and is scheduled to begin in the Fall term of 2021-2022.

Our Art and Art History Department, in collaboration with our campus art gallery, The Catherine G. We are a small and collaborative department committed to challenging ourselves and our students to think critically about the roles that visual art plays in contributing to, interrupting and promoting healing from systems of injustice.

Our faculty are anti-racist educators who foster excellence in our students while teaching courses to art majors and students in other disciplines. In challenging times that threaten the rights of people of color and indigenous peoples, women, LGBTQIA+ individuals, and disabled persons, our faculty and staff recognize all that our students have to offer and live the St. Catherine University mission to educate women to lead and influence. Join us as we uniquely position our graduates to become changemakers and social justice advocates.

Responsibilities:

  • Build the graphic design program and collaborate with colleagues to develop coursework and a curriculum for career readiness and with pedagogies that engage a diverse student body.

    • Topic to be developed in the faculty area of interest.
    • Core curriculum which includes The Reflective Woman or Global Search for Justice.

  • As an educator, and advisor, and a mentor, foster a culture of inclusive excellence through authentic relationships with students of all cultures and abilities..
  • Monitor and assess student-learning outcomes and provide timely and frequent feedback to students on performance.
  • Participate in student portfolio reviews.
  • Serve as an advisor of Ariston, a student-run arts publication.
  • Provide service to the Department and University through participation in committees and projects.
