Everyday Pricing Insights Activation Sr. Analyst (HPP & Baby)

As an Everyday Pricing Insights Activation Analyst (Household Paper Plastics & Baby Divisions) you will develop and deliver Operational, Competitive, and Strategic insights relating to our pricing performance. These insights will improve our current operations, understand our competitors and shape our future pricing plans. You will activate against these insights with a broad set of partners including our pricing strategy teams, global Pricing operations, EDABI, and product teams, across the Pricing & Promotions COE, and with Merchandising teams. You will bring these insights to life in the following ways:

  • Quarterly SWOT for a merchandise pyramid of previous quarter's performance and primary competitors
  • Own pricing decisions and investment opportunities for HPP and Baby
  • Benchmarks and highlights of seasonal and YOY changes in opening price points, owned brand price laddering, and price architecture of competitors' store assortments vs Target.
  • Market intelligence summaries of strategic pricing changes implemented by key competitors
  • Monthly Business Review dashboard and action plan on actively managed comp shop SKUs, index vs competitors, and actively priced.
  • Lead biannual audits of assortment excluded from Actively Managed Pricing
  • Pricing Playbook for each division and season
  • Implement changes to pricing strategy on appropriate business cadence to positively impact guests and financials
  • Recommendations on channel pricing strategies based on internal performance and competitor actions
  • Regular updates and recaps on pricing tests
  • Delivery of objectives tied to captainships which improve the performance of the global Everyday Pricing and Competitive Retail Intelligence teams


To achieve these goals, you will engage in a number of activities including, but not limited to:
  • Responsible for developing and prioritizing action plans to improve KPI metrics via a blend of short-term countermeasures and long-term solutions
  • Use domain expertise to determine the most effective data sources to improve pricing performance, inclusive of multiple internal reporting tools, 3rd party insights platforms, or acquisition of data through field studies
  • Using economic and pricing strategies to improve gross margin performance and price perception
  • Proposing and building executable, scalable tests of new pricing strategies leveraging Plan-Do-Check-Act cycle and engaging with Analytics and Product resources to sustain tests that drive business value into everyday operations
  • Creating compelling problem statements and business cases to support and advance our pricing strategy
  • Assessing and balancing stakeholder interests in managing price competiveness vs gross margin
  • Building strong, trusted relationships with merchants, PPCOE strategy & planning teams, pricing product teams, and Everyday Pricing Operations analyst
  • Maintaining daily connection with Everyday Pricing Operations Analyst counterparts in Bangalore
  • Providing subject matter expertise on pricing capabilities
  • Responsibility for the identification and correct setup of new items to deliver on our enterprise pricing strategy and intentional pricing relationships between brands, sizes, and item segmentation.


Minimum requirements:
  • 4-year degree or equivalent work experience
  • 2 years of professional work experience
  • Strong financial acumen for both retail and cost accounting metrics
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Ability to manipulate data in Excel, SSAS financial data manipulation
  • Demonstrated peer leadership and decision-making skills
  • Ability to influence others through the use of data and insights
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maximize relationships
  • Strategic orientation and comfortable with ambiguity
  • Self-starter, ability to work independently


Desired Requirements:
  • Understanding of Merchandising Product Lifecycle
  • Lean concepts in Problem Solving, PDCA cycle, and hypothesis testing
  • Microeconomic and Pricing concepts in theory and application
  • Ability to pull basic queries in Hadoop/Big Red databases
