BUSINESS CAPABILITIES AND IMPACT

The Financial and Retail Services is the financial arm of Target. The mission of the FRS Engineering team is to ensure fast, reliable, and secure financial transactions and support. We support RedCard, GiftCard, and Target's service centers. We enable nearly $2 billion in prepaid transactions each year, along with $20 billion in RedCard transactions a year. Come be a frontend engineer on the Apply for RedCard team in the FRS space! The AFR team handles all our guest's applications to a RedCard debit or credit card. We

manage multiple different UIs in the stores and online. We're expanding our expertise in frontend skills and would love for you to join!

TECHNOLOGY

Our engineering teams are empowered to select the appropriate technology for the

problem they are trying to solve. Some examples of these technologies include:
  • Front end technologies like React with JavaScript and TypeScript
  • Web languages like HTML and CSS
  • Testing with Jest, Enzyme, Cypress, and React Testing Library
  • This is not an exhaustive list. Target values curiosity and a love for code over any specific technologies. If you have strong computer science fundamentals, problem solving skills, and a passion for learning, you will be a great fit!


SKILLS

Work as a member of a product team that will iterate on guest facing features that impact the bottom line of Target.com.
  • Continuously work to improve through pair programming and pull request reviews.
  • Implement design patterns to enhance our highly scalable web application.
  • Contribute to the design of our full system architecture.
  • Engage in continuous improvement projects within the team and mentor other engineers.
  • Contribute unit and functional tests to certify your work is good.
  • Provide technical expertise to product teams, advising best practices and highlighting risks.


ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Basic qualifications:
  • 5+ years of software development experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in web technologies.
  • Proficient with JavaScript.
  • Experience with web frameworks like React, Angular, Vue.js, Polymer, Riot.js, Backbone, and Ember.
  • Experience developing Adaptive or Responsive websites using HTML5 and CSS3.
  • Familiarity with build tools such as webpack, Rollup, gulp, and Grunt.
  • Computer Science foundational knowledge including competencies working with design patterns, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Experience automated testing and proficient with a testing framework (e.g. Jest, Mocha).
  • Experience working with a source versioning tool, such as Git.
  • Experience working as a member of an Agile software development team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills demonstrating technical leadership.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.


Preferred qualifications:
  • Experience with Next.js.
  • Experience working with RESTful web services.
  • Experience building accessible websites.
  • Exposure to DevOps tools, processes, and culture (e.g. Docker, Git, CI/CD, agile, etc.).
  • Awareness of new and emerging technologies.
