Position Description

This position is responsible to drive change and guide initiatives to maximize the business value delivered and manage the GuidingCare System from an enterprise level. Must demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the vision, goals and desired objectives of the system and UCare's initiatives. Drive resolution of defects and promote system enhancements to maximize member outcomes and operational efficiency, working collaboratively with business units, IT and external parties on prioritization. Evaluate system changes and drive upgrade decisions, communicate to stakeholders the impact of changes, and serve as the Business Owner for the application.

• Serve as the primary business owner of the GuidingCare Care Management platform representing the needs and perspectives of all UCare business stakeholders. This includes understanding the implications of process changes, across teams, to system configuration and downstream impacts.

• Maintain and manage a log of all system defects and enhancements, working collaboratively with business units, CCO, IT and external parties to define ROI/benefits, plan releases, and optimize system performance.

• Evaluate each GuidingCare release, documenting changes, assessing impacts, and seeking feedback from UCare stakeholders. Develop annual (at a minimum) upgrade proposals.

• Serve as the Business Owner for all GuidingCare system changes, including engage in both technical discussions and any related project teams.

• Serve on UCare's GuidingCare System Management Team, gathering input and feedback from UCare users, sharing relevant feedback from the GuidingCare community, and integrating needs into system plans.

• Provide timely and comprehensive communication of GuidingCare changes, release notes, issues and enhancements to UCare stakeholders.

• Oversee and monitor GuidingCare-related business processes ensuring maximum utilization of features that improve quality and increase efficiency. Identify, recommend and execute improvements.

• Oversee internal and external Service tickets and change requests, including incidents, planned maintenance and requested changes.

• Provide oversight for data and code set loads and migrations to ensure consistency across environments and systems.

• Manage process of medical management and authorization to claim workflow and identification and resolution of workflow issues/defects.

• Work in an Agile environment and continuously review business needs, refine priorities, outline milestones and deliverables, and identify opportunities and risks.

• Develop and oversee testing content and plans to ensure a comprehensive evaluation of any upgrades or GuidingCare system changes

• Mentor and coach Leaders and Super Users on system capabilities and changes.

• Engage in the GuidingCare Community by attending sprint planning, conference calls, and other events.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree in health care, business administration or related field; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Experience

Five years' experience in a managed care organization or other health insurance environment. Two years of GuidingCare product experience or other medical management tool suites. Two years of HealthRules product experience or other claims payor tool suites. Solid operational experience and knowledge of commercial, Medicare and state program products and services balanced with technical knowledge. Proactive, self-starter with excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration, alignment, and prioritization. High degree of organization, individual initiative, and personal accountability. People management experience. Technical skillset for determining best functionality. Process knowledge of medical management and authorization to claim workflow. Organizational project management skills for prioritization & delivery

Preferred Experience

Negotiation, conflict management and facilitation skills. Vendor relationship management experience. Experience with defect management systems. Knowledge of Jira and SQL.
