Product Safety and Quality Assurance plays a key role in enabling these owned brands to come to life and bring joy to our guests. Our goal is to achieve exceptional product quality, by consistently delivering on our "Expect More. Pay Less." brand promise. We validate that our vendor partners operate, efficient, safe, and ethical factory environments, capable of producing safe, reliable, quality product.

As a Lead Production Engineer, you are an expert on product compliance, quality, and regulatory requirements. You will use your manufacturing and quality expertise to assess vendors' and factories' Quality Management Systems across varying manufacturing processes and drive continuous improvement of QMS to ensure vendors deliver safe and quality product. You will also consult and coach Target teams with technical guidance to proactively manage production and quality risk. Business acumen, especially related to quality, retail and manufacturing will help you as you actively influence decision-making and address business needs through engagement with internal and external business partners. You will leverage advance analytics and reporting as well as standardization and calibration activities for 3rd parties, vendors, factories, field processes and teams to help Target maintain a healthy supplier matrix and continue to create value through our owned brands. A Lead Production Engineers works independently to visit production facilities and meet with factory and vendor staff whether remotely or on site, yet is collaborating with Target and external teams to drive continuous improvement.

About you:

Minimum Requirements
  • Four-year degree in engineering or equivalent experience
  • 7+ years of relevant experience
  • Background in quality and technical/engineering in manufacturing or equivalent disciplines
  • Quality management, raw material, product, and manufacturing industry experience/knowledge
  • Expert in quality assurance processes, procedures and tools
  • Knowledge of CPSC and other US regulatory and consumer product safety requirements
  • Experienced in manufacturing line setup
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
  • Collaborative focus and ability to work successfully across functional areas
  • Language: fluent in English and local language
  • Working Knowledge of Technology, Data and analytics including Microsoft windows and Office software applications
  • Knowledge of quality tools RCA/Fishbone/Lean/Six Sigma/Industrial Engineering
  • Ability to travel as needed (25-50%)

DESIRED REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience in retail purchasing operations or support (Sourcing, procurement, QA, development, etc.)
  • Certified Quality Engineer
  • Six Sigma or Lean certified preferred
  • Experienced in project management preferred
