The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) Cybersecurity Team is looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, and innovative Cybersecurity Engineer to develop and implement solutions that protect the availability, confidentiality, and integrity of SMSC systems and data. This role will be defining and deploying the information security programs for the entire organization. This is achieved through leading Identity Management and Governance, threat and vulnerability monitoring, risk assessments, and Cybersecurity training.

What You Will Do:
As a member of the Cybersecurity team, the Cybersecurity Engineer is responsible for implementing security strategies and architecture to ensure the SMSC exceeds a high quality of compliance. In addition to coordinating and implementing security controls, you will assess, report, and remediate cyber threats, vulnerabilities and risks for the organization. The Cybersecurity Engineer will serve as a key member of our Security Workgroups providing industry intelligence and security leadership. The role will work with IT leadership, other functional area architects, and IT Systems Security to ensure adequate security solutions are in place throughout all IT systems and platforms to mitigate identified risks sufficiently, and to meet business objectives and requirements. You will test new security solutions to ensure the solution is acceptable to the existing or emerging security architecture of the organization. Lastly, the Cybersecurity Engineer will coordinate and lead cybersecurity education for the enterprise through both formal and informal exercises including phishing campaigns, red or blue team exercises, computer based training, and enterprise communications.

Days Monday - Friday Hiring Rate or Hiring Range 1. Based on Qualifications Requirements You Will Need:
  • 5+ years of IT with 3+ years of Information Security experience
  • Bachelor's degree required (Cybersecurity or an equivalent discipline preferred)
  • CISSP or CCSP certification preferred
  • Experience with Security Frameworks; CIS top 20, NIST, etc.
  • Technical Writing skills
  • Strong understanding of tools, technologies, security strategies, and their implications on the broader business environment
  • Risk Management reporting experience
  • Expert knowledge of; Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Intrusion Detection / Intrusion Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS), Networking Protocols and Segmentation
  • Successful track record in performing risk, business impact, control and vulnerability assessments, and defining mitigation strategies
