Job Description

Job Summary:

Provides primary nursing services for patients; including SMSC Community members and their families, SMSC employees and their families, and Native Americans living in Scott County, in a clinic setting. Also provide health and wellness education for individual patients and groups as requested. Also provides comprehensive home care services to patients and families with chronic disease and disabilities, as assigned.

Job Duties:

  1. Provides primary nursing services in a clinic setting for SMSC Community members, employees, and dependents. Also provides home care for SMSC Community members and dependents to include primary nursing services, personal care, and related care as needed.
  2. Works closely with the multi-disciplinary team to include Medical Doctors, Chiropractors, Physician's Assistants, Nurse Practitioners, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and other health care professionals.
  3. Performs initial assessment and medical treatment for SMSC employees who are injured at work and secure a urine specimen for drug and alcohol testing.
  4. Obtains vital signs, administers immunizations as part of preventative and/or occupational health care visits, administers oral and injectable medication, performs phlebotomy duties, obtains lab specimens for testing, and performs electrocardiograms among other clinical duties. 
  5. Performs administrative duties relevant to the clinic setting; including answering phones, sending and receiving faxes and maintaining and stocking exam rooms.
  6. Provides health education opportunities for staff on various health-related topics as requested.
  7. Complies with HIPAA rules and maintains all patient information confidentially and securely.
  Days Monday - Friday Hiring Rate or Hiring Range Salary Based on Qualifications Requirements
  1. Successful completion of a Practical Nursing program from an accredited secondary school.
  2. Must be currently licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse by and in good standing with the Minnesota Board of Nursing.
  3. Good computer skills to include MS Word, Excel, and Outlook, as well as other health care or business related software as needed.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  5. Must hold and maintain Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. If not CPR certified upon hire, must obtain certification within 90 days of employment.
  6. Valid driver's license required with good driving record.
  7. Schedule includes occasional weekends with typical shifts 8am-5pm, 7am-7pm availability needed.
