The Talent Analytics team
  • Integrates into the business as strategic HR analytics partners and anticipates and uncovers stated or unstated needs
  • Listens and empowers team member and external stakeholder voice

  • Uses our analytics expertise to test, measure, analyze, understand and answer various business questions

About the role:

Product Teams at Target are accountable for the delivery of business outcomes enabled through technology and analytic products that are easy to use, easily maintained and highly reliable. Each Product team has one shared backlog that is inclusive of all product, technology, discovery and design work.

As a Sr. Product Owner (Strategic Analytics and Research) on the Talent Analytics team, you will work in the product model and will partner to develop a comprehensive product strategy, related roadmap, and set key business objectives (OKRs) for your respective product.
  • Leverage the knowledge of your product, as well as customer feedback and establish other relevant data points to assess value, develop business cases, and prioritize the direction and desired outcomes for your product.
  • Accountable for key routines such as: discovery, value testing, prioritization, product roadmap creation and maintenance, and product lifecycle management
  • Able to articulate vision, strategy, and plan for the product. Articulates the value of the work and how it contributes and supports the OKRs of the product leveraging objective data.
  • Ensures work aligns to the OKRs/metrics of the product. Creates corresponding data/analytics to track and control the health of the product and business impact. This includes functional and technical OKR/metrics.
  • Manage a product and work in unison with engineers, analysts, data scientists and business partners to deliver a product. You will have a Product scalability mindset.
  • Demonstrates agile and product principals through sprint execution (story creation through implementation and definition of done). Provides backlog input and prioritization recommendations including functional and technical considerations. Develops stories and defines clear acceptance criteria for completion. Partners with the scum team to ensure quality. Creates and uses test and learn practices, to drive product learnings and product adoption
  • Strong understanding of domain, product functions, and how the product impacts personas. Articulates how product functions tie back to OKR/metrics for the domain and/or portfolio.
  • Participates in aligning necessary work from partners to achieve the value of their product (i.e. other products, engineering, UX teams, process teams, compliance/legal teams, security teams, and other business/technology stakeholders). Uses data to help drive alignment. Maintains collaborative working relationships/ agreements to move work forward. Can say "no/not now" to features with less value and garner stakeholder support for de-prioritization.
  • Work with Data Strategy and Governance team and other Product Owners within the Talent Analytics team to ensure the right product development for the portfolio. You will also work with the Product tech and Data science team when needed.
  • You will be the voice of the productÓ to key stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met, and that the product team is getting the direction and support that it needs to be successful.
  • Maintain a product roadmap and backlog outlining the customer themes, epics, and stories while prioritizing the backlog to focus on the highest impact work for your team and stakeholders.
  • Exhibits strong communication within immediate scrum team, and with key partners/end users of the product. Can demo and interact with customers/users and how they use a product, articulating it's benefits
  • Encourage the open exchange of information and viewpoints, as well as inspire others to achieve challenging goals and high standards of performance while committing to the organization's direction.
  • Foster sense of urgency to achieve goals and leverage resources to overcome unexpected obstacles, and partner with product teams across the organization to help them achieve their goals while pursuing and completing yours.

The Product Owner will help lead Talent Analytic Business Partners and Consultants through a collective set of product routines including:
  • Setting the product vision
  • Understanding stakeholder and user requirements
  • Defining the features
  • Driving the Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) of the product within a roadmap
  • Creating the Product Roadmap

The Product Owner also creates prioritization for the analysts team. They work with the analytical team to:
  • Provides scrum team with the necessary context of the problems they are solving and for whom.
  • Focus on owning prioritization for the products
  • Inspire intellectual curiosity around improvement opportunities
  • Build deep understanding of business outcomes and stakeholder responsibilities

About you:
  • 4-year college degree (or equivalent experience)
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Previous Product Leadership experience in technology or data science, reporting or analytics
  • Can work independently, and is knowledgeable and accountable for work within own job area.
  • Positive, people-oriented, enthusiastic and can easily work with others
  • Proven track record of using feedback to adapt and improve their product
  • Strong communication skills
  • Experience with technology and ability to facilitate communication between business and technology teams
  • Experience working in an agile environment (e.g.user stories, iterative development, scrum teams, sprints, personas)
  • Proven ability to lead a body of work with cross functional partners
