A Manager of Marketing role within Target Brand & Category Marketing team is an opportunity to create guest-centric, culturally relevant, compelling strategies and tactics that engage guests at every touchpoint. The objective of this work is to drive enterprise sales, increase market share and deliver an amazing guest experience that is uniquely Target with the long-term goal of increasing loyalty and master brand equity. Additionally, Brand & Category marketers provide connectivity across all key partners, including Guest Insights, Media Strategy, Finance, Operations, Merchandising, Communications and creative agencies. You will apply your deep understanding of guest attitudes and behaviors to build out industry-leading plans that achieve Target's business objectives for Target's key strategic partners, including Apple, Disney, Google, Lego, Starbucks and Sports partners such as Major League Soccer. Your broad Marketing expertise will support your assigned partners to maximize relevance, differentiation, and competitive advantage. Your commitment to partnership and collaboration will rally & inspire internal and external partners across functions-from merchants to strategic vendors to industry influencers. Here, you will be challenged to deliver a seamless guest experience that motivates guests to choose Target.

This role requires strong business acumen and strategic thinking skills along with accountability and attention to detail. In your role, you will manage relationships with internal teams and extended partners including external agencies while leveraging the channel expertise of a broad cross-functional team. Here, your ability to bring teams together to create holistic and effective marketing plans across many disciplines will enable Target to meet the guest where they are. On any given day, you will simultaneously be concepting, planning, and executing several strategies of varying scale; drafting briefs, driving timelines, budget and keeping working teams informed. You will provide partners on-going direction, feedback and approvals throughout the process. You will be responsible for establishing new processes and connections across the enterprise while leveraging your understanding of guest behavior, market trends and competitive insights to optimize short-term performance, develop long-term strategies and identify opportunities for the future.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leads the translation of business problems, white space opportunities and guest insights into an actionable marketing strategy and develops corresponding marketing plans.
  • Leverages tools, resources, insights and investments effectively & efficiently to drive business & financial goals.
  • Owner of multiple cross-divisional VP relationships
  • Seeks to understand Partnership business goals and opportunities for growth, within the context of the categories they operate, and prioritizes effectively to focus on fewer, deeper, bolder efforts.
  • Leads cross-functional relationships to create holistic, seamless and effective multi-channel work, including but not limited to Merchandising, Enterprise Strategy, Marketing Guest Insights, Media Strategy, Finance, In Store Marketing, Promo Marketing, Publicity, Experiential, Site Merchandising, Roundel, Influencer and multiple creative and media partners.
  • Represents Marketing with key external and internal business partners.
  • Gives constructive, actionable and inspiring creative feedback.
  • Cultivates strong partnerships both internally and externally to support short-term and long-term objectives.
  • Understands & balances guest needs, Target's brand equity and business priorities to maximize marketing effectiveness.


REQUIREMENTS
  • College degree required; Marketing emphasis or major preferred
  • Proven track record of authoring compelling marketing strategies and designing measurable and actionable marketing plans with proven results. Experience with strategic execution of marketing plans, on time and on budget.
  • 5+ years of related work experience; agency or marketing, brand management experience preferred
  • Ability to connect dots across multiple inputs including various business opportunities, requests, sources of insight, industry/ media trends and intuition/ experience
  • Tenacity and courage to inspire to make the work better and be the voice of the guest and business.
  • Develops detailed project plans that integrate cross-channel timing, define deliverables and build approach to leadership and full team involvement. Anticipates dependencies and constraints.
  • A desire to collaboratively solve problems.
  • Proven track record of navigating complexity, highly matrixed organizations and ambiguity (and, in fact, be energized by it!)
  • Ability to inspire, and drive confidence with a range of partners and stakeholders.
  • Personally inspired by both the art and science of marketing.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Passion and/or experience in negotiations and contract management.
  • Have passion for and/or previous experience with partnership marketing, bringing two brands together to differentiate and drive preference preferred.
