Position Description

This position will serve as a champion for UCare's antiracism initiatives, including UCare's work to advance health and racial equity for our members, and the evolution of a culture focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). This individual will work with stakeholders inside and outside UCare (staff and leadership) to identify and address health disparities, foster a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce environment, and dismantle systemic racism in UCare policies and procedures. This position will lead UCare's newly created Equity and Inclusion department.

• Act as a change agent, thought-leader, influencer and subject matter expert on anti-racism, health and racial equity, DEI, and the social drivers of health.

• Develop and implement strategies to identify, address, and report health disparities across markets and populations, and to measure progress over time and against identified targets to achieve equity in the health outcomes of members.

• Ensure efforts to improve health and racial equity are designed collaboratively with staff, leaders, and stakeholders across UCare, and include and amplify the voices of the diverse communities we serve.

• Support UCare leaders as they examine policies and procedures with an equity lens and develop strategies in their areas that advance equity and inclusion and eliminate strategies that negatively impact underrepresented and underserved groups.

• In close collaboration with the Vice President of Organizational Effectiveness/Chief Human Resources Officer and other business leaders, establish, implement, support, and measure UCare's strategies to advance workforce DEI efforts and metrics.

• Support Human Resources in its workforce planning efforts, specifically recruitment, retention, promotion, and support of diverse talent across the organization, at all levels.

• Partner with HR in the training (including anti-racism and implicit bias training) of staff to both effectively communicate with and care for diverse populations.

• Represent the organization with external organizations and the broader community to advance anti-racism, health and racial equity and DEI.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in public health, social sciences, or other health care related field required. Advanced clinical degree such as MD, Doctorate of Nursing Practice, PharmD, DO, or equivalent strongly desired.

Required Experience

Six years of experience leading efforts related to health and racial equity and/or diversity, equity and inclusion.

The UCare difference is our people power - employees actively working on the behalf of our members to get them access to the health care they need. We value and respect each individual's ideas and contributions, and provide the freedom to grow both personally and professionally. We are centrally located, and offer onsite education, equipment and wellness resources, and a myriad of volunteer activities. If you're looking for an inclusive environment that celebrates your people power, helps you build on your strengths and gives you the opportunity to truly make a difference, we invite you to apply.

As an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer, we welcome and employ a diverse employee group committed to meeting the needs of UCare, our members, and the communities we serve.
