Job Overview:

A role with Target Packaging is an opportunity to lead packaging development for Target's beloved owned brands and exclusive partnerships. Your influence will drive sales and grow brand love through packaging that's guest-centric, differentiated and brand/category relevant.

To be successful you will leverage and interact with internal and external partners throughout all phases of packaging development. Primary partners include: business/cross functional teams, Print Planners, Copy Writers, Structural Engineers, Producers, Creative Designers and vendor partners. Furthermore, as part of a global team spanning the U.S., China and India, you will have partners at offices overseas who will provide additional inputs as well as project health metrics.

As a Sr. Packaging Project Manager you will design the Owned Brand Packaging development plan from project initiation through closing. You will lead the development (along w/ key stakeholders) of the project plan and directly lead the project execution and controlling phases of work. Using both analytical and conceptual skillsets you will scope the project, manage inputs, timing, and resource allocation. Throughout the project you will prioritize and manage multiple deliverables on varying timelines to ensure the project remains on time, on budget and on strategy. Conceptually, you will translate business challenges into Packaging solutions ensuring they meet brand standards while identifying and troubleshooting potential obstacles throughout all phase of work.

Project Management
  • Initiate and scope Packaging project plans and budgets based on business and brand objectives
  • Access project feasibility; develop contingency plans and risk mitigation strategies
  • Pro-actively drive and oversee multiple and simultaneous project plans, communicate deliverables and ensure cross-functional team compliance
  • Use data and analytics to control project execution as well as drive change across partners and future projects with a focus on operational excellence
  • Lead project closing and evaluation including finalizing expenses
  • Develop longer term process solutions/optimizations, as necessary.


Team Leadership
  • Support team strategies, goals and objectives
  • Promote sharing of expertise and continuous learning across the organization
  • Provide feedback, coaching and guidance where appropriate to enhance others' skill development
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (i.e. vendor, separator).


About you
  • Four-year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • 5+ years of industry experience, preferably in packaging or Project Management
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to manage, resource and lead multiple complex projects in many different stages and work with ambiguity
  • Skill to interpret business objectives and translate into creative solutions
  • Speaks and writes clearly and succinctly
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse partners and contribute in a team environment
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills, initiative and accountability
