Description:

About us:

Target is an iconic brand, a Fortune 50 company and one of America's leading retailers.

Join a world-class Product Design, UX Writing, Research and Accessibility team responsible for the human-centered design of our digital experiences. We envision and create inspiring, impactful and well-crafted solutions that serve our guests, team members and business. Our purpose is to help all families discover the joy of everyday life. Our promise is to serve all families through our digital experiences, inclusive of Black, Indigenous, people of color, people with disabilities, non-binary, and low-income guests.

The Enterprise User Experience team is dedicated to creating and maintaining digital solutions (such as tools or capabilities) in support of internal and external users. As a retail brand, these internal solutions prove vital to the operation and function of the business.

About the job:

This Lead Product Designer is responsible for defining and documenting user experiences to build world-class solutions for Target Team Members. The Lead Product Designer will craft and own UX strategy, drive and facilitate product discovery through testing and research, sketch concepts, define visual design, build prototypes, and will collaborate with product owners, engineers, operations and other partners.

A successful candidate must be able to provide specific work samples and case studies that show clear, high-quality designs articulating complex data-driven and user-focused systems.

Use your skills, experience and talents to evangelize design thinking and visionary goals within your working and peer teams.

Take the lead as you...
  • Own the full design process, from early discovery and testing to asset delivery and design accountability with engineers
  • Create new and optimize template visual design hierarchy and patterns for Service Center team member support applications including Salesforce
  • Proactively identify and pursue design opportunities within your team
  • Understand how to incorporate both qualitative and quantitative research into the design process and be able to articulate and defend design decisions using this research as an input and a guide
  • Support other Designers on your team as well as lead small initiatives with all Discovery tasks - generating new concepts and hypotheses, rapidly prototype and test those ideas, support and conduct UX research, pivot quickly to new directions
  • Follow through on delivery: own production design with an eye for detail and efficiency to create detailed design documents and assets to support engineering in shipping the product out the door
  • Collaborate exceedingly well and apply influence with others including other designers, engineers, product managers, QA staff, accessibility team members and partners in operations
  • Consult with other teams across Target again leveraging influence (e.g., Financial Retail Services, Guest Services, Supply Chain, etc.) to ensure cohesiveness of the digital ecosystem for the guest
  • Assist with creating for and maintaining a pattern library of UI and design elements, together with engineers and accessibility, to ensure reusable, proven and tested patterns are documented and socialized to individual tools teams
  • Assist with creating or consulting on user adoption resources/content for Service Center agents and leaders to ensure understanding of existing or new tool functionality
