COMMUNITY RELATIONS ASSISTANT

Position Description
This position is responsible to raise awareness of the organization and its work through diverse and underserved communities in Minnesota. Assist in managing a variety of large and small scale, innovative community events.

• Promote UCare's positive presence in communities through regular participation at professional conferences, health fairs, community events and other community initiatives.

• Coordinate UCare presence at events that are a strategic fit with UCare's community relations plan. This will include, but not limited to; manage registration, payment, advertisements, logos, volunteer staffing and other logistic aspects before the event, attend and manage event, looking after set up, event and tear down and ensure appropriate marketing materials and/or giveaways are ready to be used at each event.

• Assist with representation at HealthFair 11events and participate in UCare's involvement at the Minnesota State Fair in the HealthFair 11 building.

• Record, track and maintain all information and activities related to Community Relations in database program (Microsoft Dynamics 365).

• Update and maintain volunteer program. This would include recruiting and supporting event volunteers.

• Maintain trinket inventory and coordinate ordering process for UCare departments. Fulfill orders as requested.

• Assist at special events which may occur in outdoor venues and will require some weekend and evening hours.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, or related field required; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Required Experience
Two years' experience working in diverse community outreach and/or promotional programs. Experience relating and connecting with individuals of varied ethnic, cultural backgrounds, ages and economic circumstances within the community. Must have reliable transportation and ability to travel to events which may occur evening and weekends. Must be able to lift 15 lbs. and move materials easily.

Preferred Experience
Outgoing, friendly, highly organized person with experience with low-income, ethnic, disabled or senior populations preferred. Ability to speak, write/read in Spanish or Somali is a plus.
