This position is responsible for engineering the design of electrical systems, assisting in the execution of all the documentation, release, production and service follow-up of assigned new or revised electrical systems, and meeting established customer requirements and schedules.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
Create designs and design layouts for new electrical system concepts, new electrical products, or improvements to existing electrical products.
Create engineering design for new and improved electrical routings or products which meet market, safety, quality, performance, reliability, durability requirements of the customer.
Prepare electrical schematics and wiring harness drawings. Coordinates design with others assigned to the project to ensure integration of the design into the machine model.
Responsible for basic design calculations relating to current, voltage, power, temperature, heat buildup, bend radius and mounting locations.
Secure assistance of consultants or internal specialists i.e. Electrical, Mechanical and/or Manufacturing engineers and vendor experts..
Use the best technology available in each and every area of design.
Support team design reviews, safety reviews and cost and manufacturing reviews.
Assure that all parts designed are manufacturable.
Maintain accurate lists of parts created. Coordinate or helps to coordinate the release of parts for production whether for prototypes or final production. Components may include solid state devices, switches, sensors, solenoids, actuators and other special assemblies.
Work with design engineers, manufacturing engineers, test engineers and others to determine changes which are needed to meet customer requirements. Solves harness routing and electrical design problems. Coordinates the required documentation to assure that the changes are implemented on a timely basis.
Communicate with supervisor regarding project status and issues that may require assistance.
Enters and maintains documentation in SAP
Uses Creo Schematic to document the system architecture and Creo Cabling to create harness routing
Assists manufacturing/assembly during prototype, pilot, and production.
Performs follow-up on engineering.
Prepares prototypes to assure needs are met for sales, marketing, manuals, packaging, service, manufacturing and QC reference.
Documents potential patentable ideas.
Keeps informed of new design, manufacturing and materials developments.
Performs miscellaneous duties as may be requested.
Graduate of an accredited technical school for design and drafting (two-year course) or Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university or college in an engineering related technology (ex. Electrical, Mechanical, Automotive, Manufacturing, Design).
Proven knowledge of electrical or electronic circuits and design creativity.
A minimum of five years of experience (three years if candidate has B.S. in Engineering) in the mechanical, electrical or electronics design field.
Technical ability in math and mechanics preferable.
Demonstrated ability to independently accomplish duties and responsibilities as listed.
Other Job-Related Components:
Responsible as the design leader in the development of the electrical system in various machine families or attachment.
Should be able to work independently with minimum supervision.
Travel to test sites, vendors, manufacturing facilities, customers and others, as required.
May give work direction to electrical technicians, associate designers or drafters.
