A role in Food Safety means working in a critical area that will support Target's efforts to identify, prioritize and minimize areas of food safety risk as well as proactively educate and equip team members by providing simplified tools, processes and training. You will have a number of resources available to you as you leverage technology, metrics, reporting and communication to monitor and drive compliance in this critical area.

As a Sr. QM Manager, FDC Quality Management, you will:
  • In partnership with Quality Management Leaders, develop specifications and standard operating procedures for Food Distribution Centers and Field Inspections
  • Travel to Food Distribution Centers in the field to provide coaching, support compliance efforts and identify and remediate impacts to quality
  • Develop Produce, Meat and Floral inspection routines, metrics, and best practices
  • Independently represent Target to resolve vendor disputes (i.e., rejected freight), evaluate and develop action plans, and collaborate internally and with vendor partners to drive awareness, education, and resolution of issues impacting our ability to accept shipment into our Food Distribution Centers (FDC)
  • Facilitate vendor discussions regarding quality metrics and current/future growth forecasts, and recommend solutions to improve overall quality for our Target guests
  • Leverage vendor scorecards to assess, identify and influence poor and superior performers
  • Work in tandem with Food Safety and Internal Audit teams to monitor and drive compliance at Food Distribution Centers
  • Drive Team Member knowledge and understanding of inspection guidelines/procedures and facilitate and maintain field training content; Audit Quality Management teams for procedural compliance and regularly identify individual and team opportunities for continuous learning and improvement
  • Facilitate department budget, staffing, performance and development and provide work direction to a team of Food Quality professionals, including leaders of people, across multiple Food Distribution Centers
  • Other duties as assigned; job duties may change at any time due to business needs

About You:
  • Four-year degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in food safety, quality management or other related functions; people or functional leadership experience preferred
  • General Food Safety Knowledge (HACCP food safety certification preferred)
  • Valid driver's license
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to facilitate meetings, resolve conflict, build consensus, establish rapport and collaborate effectively across departments and externally
  • Analytical and critical thinking skills with the ability to leverage data to influence decisions and distill complex issues into actionable plans
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to create transparency and confidence and influence across all levels of Target Team Members
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize and successfully manage multiple tasks or projects in response to changing or competing priorities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications and QC Tools

Working Environment:
  • Extensive driving; 50% Travel
  • Prolonged exposure to cold temperatures (32-50°) while working within FDC's
  • May occasionally be required to lift and/or move up to 50lbs
