A Director of Print and Design role within Store Experience Marketing is an opportunity to continuously elevate the Target store experience through design, materials, print and digital innovation. The objective of this work is to drive a sense of belonging, inspiration and wonder for guests while considering the scale, complexity, budget and sustainability requirements for the entire retail chain. You will also work cross-functionally across store design, in partnership with our creative agencies, visual merchandise, and store experience planning and project management to bring the vision for in-store presentation to life. You will apply your deep understanding of print techniques, vendor management, and prototyping while ensuring executional excellence through to set. Your commitment to partnership and collaboration will help inspire internal teams and partner groups to see the possibilities for our brand and the guest.

As a Director, Print and Design, Store Experience Marketing, you will lead a team of print production and design experts. This role requires an ability to inspire your direct team, coach and guide them to continuously elevate the store environment and raise the bar in design every day. On any given day you will simultaneously lead conceptual ideation, vendor negotiation planning, system and tool enhancements, and executional considerations. This role requires true end to end oversight and expertise.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Leads a team of six designers and nine print producers. Coaches, develops and inspires team to achieve established goals for the team, business and marketing organization.
  • Leverages tools and resources effectively & efficiently to drive business & financial goals with responsibility for a multi-million dollar budget across all stores.
  • Owner of multiple cross enterprise relationships.
  • Seeks to understand innovation in retail, the print industry and within the digital space.
  • Partners with multiple creative and design focused groups to bring the entire store presentation together, delivering on guest insights, operational efficiencies and design innovation.
  • Represents Store Experience Marketing with external print vendors and suppliers.
  • Gives constructive, actionable and inspiring creative feedback.
  • Understands & balances guest needs, Target's brand, business priorities and operational realities to maximize the store presentation.


REQUIREMENTS
  • Deep retail store design, innovation and presentation experience
  • College degree preferred. Focus retail design.
  • Proven track record of driving innovation and compelling presentation development to drive business results.
  • 12+ years of related work experience; store design, visual merchandising, print production, agency, marketing, retail experience preferred.
  • Ability to connect dots across multiple inputs including various business opportunities, industry, competitive, retail and print/design trends.
  • Tenacity and courage to inspire direct team and multiple partner teams to continuously innovate and improve the craft.
  • A desire to collaboratively solve problems.
  • Strong creative and design acumen and passion for developing creative that retains Target's competitive edge in the market and builds relationships with guests.
  • Personally inspired by both the art and science of marketing.
  • Team leadership and talent development/coaching experience critical
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
