Minnkota Power is seeking qualified applicants for a Civil Engineer located at our headquarters in Grand Forks, North Dakota.  Job Responsibilities include:

  • Substation Design Engineering
  • Prepare plan & profile drawings, construction drawings and specifications  
  • Develop complete material lists for projects  
  • Assure all substation design meets strength and safety requirements of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and/or Rural Utility System (RUS) design manual  
  • Engineering Analysis
  • Perform footing design calculations   
  • Perform structure design and strength calculations  
  • Determine mechanical loading capabilities of substation structures 
  • Project Management
    • Project budgeting and contractor and construction coordination and management
  • Operations and Maintenance Support
    • Provide day-to-day guidance and technical expertise to operations and maintenance personnel

Minnkota offers a strong compensation and benefits package. The salary for this position will be dependent on relevant experience.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Training

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university; required
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) Certification; preferred

Experience

  • Experience in the energy industry and with substation design a plus. Interested candidates with no experience are encouraged to apply as extensive on the job training will occur
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary
