Job Description Job Summary:
The Web Developer supports the marketing needs of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community's (SMSC) Tribal Operations enterprises and internal departments. This position is responsible for creating, supporting, and maintaining over a dozen independent websites and interactive applications, from layout to function. The web developer strives to create visually appealing sites and applications with a strong emphasis on UI/UX. The Web Developer collaborates with members of the digital team on strategy, goals, and cross platform user journeys. The position works to optimize application for maximum speed and scalability. The full stack developer is on premise and designs, develops and implements applications, solutions, and reports using a combination of configuration, scripting, and custom development. This position is responsible for supporting the entire lifecycle, including but not limited to, technical requirements, design, testing, deployment, documentation, and system support.   About the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community

  • Work with various areas of the Marketing Department to design and develop website pages and databases based on marketing needs analysis, fulfillment, and scope of work. Deploy code multiple times a day, iterate quickly, and build with stability in mind.
  • Develop and maintain applications through the use of content management systems, ecommerce systems, and customization on an as-needed basis. Develop and maintain both front-end and back-end development stages.
  • Gather project requirements and specifications to develop strategic project timelines with measurable benchmarks. Take ownership of daily project needs and communications.
  • Web server administration/management.
  • Coordinate with IT department for technical website and networking changes.
Days Monday - Friday Hiring Rate or Hiring Range Salary Based on Qualifications Requirements Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field required; or equivalent experience.
    Three or more years of experience required with Object Oriented PHP and PHP frameworks.
  • Three or more years of experience required with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and/or other web-based languages.
  • Two or more years of experience required with databases like Oracle, DB2, or MySQL.
  • Experience working with and developing on CMS frameworks such as WordPress, Magento, or Drupal.
  • A practical knowledge of website interfaces, UI/UX, cross-browser compatibility, and web standards.
  • Strong understanding of internet security best practices.
  • Practical understanding of API functions, interfaces and integration.
  • Experience with front-end and back-end development.
  • Experience with ecommerce development.
  • Experience with creating responsive and usable web applications from original artwork files (e.g., Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.).
  • Basic skills in Linux, Apache/NGINX, and WHM/cPanel administration.
    Excellent debugging skills.
