About us:

Target is an iconic brand, a Fortune 50 company and one of America's leading retailers.

Right on pace with Target's distinctive and beloved retail brand, the Procurement team works across the business to maximize every resource, asset and relationship. We use good data, in-depth analysis and cross-functional insights to identify and communicate best practices, elevating our sourcing and procurement activities to achieve their very highest potential.

A role with Supplier Diversity means: You'll share and promote the best tactics across the entire company while developing deep category knowledge and close client relationships. You'll also collaborate with internal partners who use world class sourcing tools, build total cost of ownership financial models, ensure contract & catalog management, deliver operational leadership, and champion Supplier Diversity in order to optimize leverage for Target.

In this role, you will be a Supplier Diversity industry expert. You serve as an internal sourcing function to build a pipeline of businesses that are at least 51% owned, operated and controlled by BIPOC, women, LGBTQ+, Veterans and/or people with disabilities. This includes proactively building a pipeline for upcoming opportunities. You build relationships across the organization to become a trusted advisor on diverse businesses.

You create and provide coaching and guidance to these companies and evaluate if their company aligns with Target's strategies. You act as an internal advocate for these companies as they navigate the sourcing process and prepare them for success. You track these vendors throughout the project lifecycle and maintain relationships beyond the onboarding process.

In this role you communicate and present to internal and external stakeholders (includes the proficiency to engage with Sr. Leadership using tailored messaging and/or storytelling), you are able to speak the language of the business, and you drive and manage change across the organization with speed and agility. You elevate partnerships with subject matter experts and support teams in the creation and framing of goals based on category and/or merchandising strategies. You will communicate progress to goals and create plans/tools to ensure those goals are met.

You will actively support the company's commitment to racial justice and Diversity and Inclusion. This includes working on cross-functional teams to best position diverse entrepreneurs for the sourcing process and to win business with Target.

As an ambassador of Target and Diversity and Inclusion, you attend events locally and nationally to network and make required assessments on diverse businesses. You establish and maintain partnerships with non-profit organizations that work with diverse owned businesses, and serve as an expert on boards and committees, or on panels and presentations. You network with your industry peers to share best practices and promote vendors to move the industry forward.

You demonstrate strong project management skills to lead highly visibly vendor development assignments, on-site events, or Supplier Diversity quarterly and monthly metrics. The work you do will have stakeholders at all levels throughout the organization and will require attention to detail, coordinated communication, influencing internal leaders and partners and time management skills.

You lead and act as a peer mentor to coach new TM's in skills development.
