DIGITAL ENGINEERING LEAD

Best Buy Co., Inc. has an opening in Richfield, MN for a Digital Engineering Lead to use backend and data technologies and Agile software development practices to design and develop key Future Workforce technology initiatives. Analyze user needs and software requirements, modify existing software, and direct software system testing and procedures. Develop microservices and batch/streaming jobs in Java and/ or Scala, leveraging frameworks such as Spring Boot, Kafka, Hibernate, REST. Contribute to design sessions to build out new services and make existing services better as they evolve. Utilize a platform mindset and a willingness to contribute to the community. Confer with QA engineers, systems analysts, programmers, and other engineers to help build test automation frameworks and Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery pipelines, among other tasks. Develop reusable monitoring frameworks that provide insights into the services during runtime. Consult with users about software system design. Lead and mentor a team of data engineers. Requires: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology, plus at least five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience 1) performing root cause analysis and large-scale application development; 2) building platforms, such as Data Platform, Scheduling, or similar; 3) using Java, Hibernate, Akka, and Spring technologies, such as Spring Boot; 4) implementing RESTful Application Program Interfaces (APIs), and 5) working in an agile and continuous delivery environment.
