Job Description Job Summary:
This position will act as the leader of the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) function for SMSC GE. This position works directly with the executive, Lighthouse and management teams across the enterprise in addition to directly supporting the GE team members. The role is responsible for ensuring that the organizational structure aligns to enterprise strategic initiatives, goals and objectives and HR practices support the overall enterprise wide operations. The HRBP leader serves as the strategic advisor to enterprise internal clients. The position drives HR programs across the enterprise in collaboration and partnership with our HR Centers of Excellence (CoE) including Talent Acquisition, HR Services, and Leadership, Learning & Engagement. The HRBP team serves as the delivery mechanism of key programs including performance management, talent reviews/calibration, pay for performance, leadership development, HCM, organizational effectiveness and design, enterprise continuous improvement and team member development actions, promotion planning, organizational design reviews and compensation planning, employee relations, compliance activities and other HR Best Practices.This role is responsible for the performance of the HRBP service delivery model, including ensuring that HRBP's serve as strategic advisors to their assigned leaders and provide support to all team members to ensure their experience is aligned with the GE's Purpose, Vision and Values (PVV). In addition, the HRBP leader translates business needs and priorities to the CoE's to further enhance their planning and priorities.   Budget/Asset Responsibilities:
Provides input in the preparation of the departmental budget. Manages areas of assigned responsibility within agreed-to budgeting and planing guidelines.   Areas of Responsibility:
Leadership Human Resource Business Partners & partnership with enterprise leaders.   Duties:
  • This role is expected to architect the HRBP team (existing and new), providing the leadership, motivation and development to create an environment that encourages accountability and strong teamwork on the team and collaboration with the greater HR function.
  • Coach leaders in people management best practices, i.e. attraction of talent, performance management, reward and recognition, employee development, and retention strategies.
  • Partner with business leaders to create high performing organizations with a focus on employee engagement and team effectiveness; facilitates teambuilding, development, and training initiatives in partnership with Leadership, Learning and Engagement CoE.
  • Develop and execute people strategies, programs, processes and policies across the entire team member lifecycle that are aligned with the enterprise strategic initiatives.
  • Establish operational excellence including leveraging technology and analytics towards creating strong people practices -- specifically provide leadership to the design and ongoing enhancement of the SMSC HCM solution and mobile team member/employee solution.
  • Build SMSC's GE's culture so it is highly Purpose, Vision and Values aligned in order to create a strong culture and outstanding team member experience.
  • Continuously stay abreast of emerging trends and best practices in the HR space.
  • Serves as a thought leader on topics related or unrelated to HR to further enhance enterprise success, revenue enhancement and expense reduction.
  • Provide leadership/participation/mentorship on cross functional teams across the enterprise.
  • Participates in the development of the enterprise strategic plans and identifies employee experience opportunities and translates them into HR people strategies
  • Leads, directs, coaches and guides leaders in identifying, prioritizing and building talent strategies & processes.

Reflects MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE required in order to meet the expectations of this job:
  • 10+ years of progressive management or leadership experience including 5+ years as a people Leader leading a professional level staff.
  • BS/BA required; Masters preferred;
  • Broad exposure to a variety of Human Resources functions, including HR strategy, culture development, change management, employee retention, workforce planning, organization development
  • Proven and successful experience leading organizational design, organizational effectiveness and development initiatives
  • Able to establish a constructive and informative relationship with team members, leadership and executives
  • Strategic thinker who can see the big picture, interpret business strategy and translate to short/long term objectives and tactical application.
  • A leader with a proven track record of delivering results
  • High level of personal integrity, ethics, initiative, and strong interpersonal skills
  • Broad business sense as well as demonstrated HR-specific competencies
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong working relationships at all levels in the organization
  • Ability to present ideas in an easy-to-understand and engaging manner
  • Proven ability to challenge and motivate management teams to foster innovation in an atmosphere of mutual respect and inclusion
Human Resources Business Partner Responsibilities
  • Ensure the team member experience is prioritized and retention of team members remains a top priority at all times; HRBP's are relentless in understanding the team member experience and acting swiftly when we see that it is out of alignment with PVV.

  • Promote and uphold the highest level of conduct and leadership practices.
  • Promote positive leadership interactions with team members through strong partnerships with the leadership team and their respective teams'/team members.
  • Oversee the overall "enterprise health" through ongoing interactive communication, evaluation of enterprise strategic initiatives and data
  • Facilitate organizational change management and help leaders to align communication, behavior, and infrastructure to support the desired changes.
  • Facilitate career management and internal mobility (including Native American preference and enrichment)
  • Mitigate risk by ensuring appropriate escalation / investigation of performance, conduct and other ER related matters
