The Strategy & Operations team within OBS&D is comprised of operations managers, process experts, and innovation strategists. This role within the S&O team will provide you an opportunity to drive industry-leading project management capabilities across multiple owned brand product categories. Are you a project management expert who can support this capability by staying one step ahead of the industry? Can you maneuver through unique business and product categories to determine the consistent process and tool needs while maintaining industry-leading project management disciplines? Then you'll have success on our PM COE team who owns the development of all Target owned brand project management key processes and tools. In close partnership with our project managers across OBs, you'll drive process, tool and technology solutions that will support and enhance consistent PM responsibilities. In partnership with our S&O team, you'll also provide training and education on core project management skills. As Director of Owned Brands Project Management - you will drive development of tools in partnership with our S&O technology team to manage calendars and stage gate meetings. You will also be accountable for ensuring consistent processes and tools in support of our Project Operations Specialists.

Director of Owned Brands Project Management

Responsibilities:

  • Lead development of process, tools and technology to support both efficiencies and effectiveness of the owned brand project management (brand management, product operations)
  • Develop consistent approaches/frameworks, standards and governance for project management disciplines in service to owned brand product creation
    • Identify common themes and areas of opportunities to help establishes standards and governance
  • Collaborate with the Product Operations teams to identify pain points and create solutions for consistent PM CFT interactions and responsibilities.
  • Manage a support system for project management across the various business pyramids, extrapolate consistencies and synergies and put in place the framework of ways of working with an eye to elevating and evolving the project management team across owned brands
  • Lead PM prioritization and advancement of technology enhancements (ie Smartsheet) to enable consistency and ease in CFT stage gate and calendar management
  • Lead development, approach, and evolution to sustainable training and career development for project managers
  • Influence project managers at Target to standardize ways of working, creating procedures in service to the Performance Engine roll out
  • Communicate with Product Operations, Brand Management, Owned Brand PM, and Transition Lead teams to ensure consistent project management discipline across the owned brand organization
  • Technical problem solve; and aggregate opportunities across the business pyramids in owned brand project management
  • Continue to create and define the project management strategy in owned brands to support and elevate the project management role across all the connection points
  • Partner with external agencies, learning institutions (ie St Thomas, U of MN), project management organizations with other retailers and industries to drive innovation and new solutions in project management disciplines and internal PM training requirements
  • Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager

  • Connect with the PM Council at Target to drive overall success across PM in Owned Brands


Minimum Job Requirements
  • Four year degree or equivalent work experience
  • 10+ years of Project Management experience or experience running structured well-coordinated approaches to projects
  • Experience in product operations or product development in an organization
  • Project Management Certificate or PMP Certification
  • Strategic approach to problem solving, recognizing opportunities in advance and solving pro-actively
  • Ability to intake multiple points of view and provide win/win solutions
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills & comfortable communicating with all levels, including Sr. level leaders
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail & decision-making ability
  • Knowledge of Project Management systems & tools, including must-have experience using Smartsheet platform, creating calendars, dashboards and reporting
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Committed to continuous learning, diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Experience working with culturally diverse team members
