ACCOUNTANT SENIOR (TEMPORARY - 6 MONTH ASSIGNMENT)

Position Description

This position is responsible to perform monthly accounting activities; including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial analysis. Responsible for supporting internal monthly financial reporting packages owned by the Accounting Department. Identifying and assist in implementing operational efficiencies and automation opportunities. Support the CFO, Controller, Assistant Controller, and/or Accounting Manager with ad hoc analysis, financial projections, or special projects.

• Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of assigned journal entries. Ensuring the balance has proper support and files have appropriate levels of controls. Ensuring the use of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and statutory accounting principles (SAP).

• Responsible for preparation of timely and accurate assigned account reconciliations which encompasses adequate support. Providing timely communication of any identified accounting adjustments to the Accounting Manager.

• Recommend and implement improved reporting of administrative expenses. Partner with business owners to identify and measure operational efficiencies and cost savings.

• Prepare analysis and/or financial projections stating results/conclusions reached and support special projects/activities as requested.

• Responsible for maintaining investment databases that meets current standards for reporting in the NAIC formats.

• Support financial and regulatory audits. This includes but is not limited to creating ad-hoc financial reports, sub-ledger detail analysis and review, allocation review, and account coding review. Prepare financial audit work papers as assigned

• Assist in annual forecast and budget process and preparation of budget presentation information. Other budget tasks as assigned.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Experience

Four years of accounting or financial analysis experience. Experience working within internal controls and identifying accounting process improvements. Advanced Excel skills.

Preferred Experience

Experience maintaining general ledger, internal controls, and daily accounting processing preferred. Prior experience in a health care organization or public accounting.
