MAJOR FUNCTIONS:

Reporting to Managing Director of Northern Operations, this role establishes the long-term materials planning strategy for North Op’s and is a key leader for TTC materials strategy overall. This position is responsible for the Materials organizations at the sites (matrix reporting), which includes planning, scheduling, production control, inventory management, warehousing, shipping, receiving and overall material flow throughout the sites. The role will provide high level direction and standardization, along with guidance on lean management systems implementation.

This position collaborates with other members of the TTC leadership team to identify and address materials related issues, and leads the supply planning process as part of the Integrated Business Planning system, which includes collaboration and alignment with other business and functional leaders.

ROLES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inventory Strategy

    • Create an end-to-end inventory management strategy and network optimization process which utilizes customer demand data as the basis of analysis

    • Develop multisite inventory processes which can be leveraged across the 5 plants

    • Develop SAP processes to enable the flexibility and visibility of the long term inventory profiles and stocking strategies for our seasonal business model

  • IBP – Central Supply Leadership

    • Responsible for the Central Supply IBP process for Northern Operations

      • Develop supply review process across 5 sites in conjunction with local teams

      • Consolidate actions and drive accountability

      • Lead overall Supply meeting structure and content, standardization and integration into the IBP process

  • Planning Excellence

    • Responsible for creating a structured planning training and organizational development process to enhance the skills and abilities to enable factory performance

  • Supply Chain Agility

    • Develop a plan based on critical finished goods to create a supply chain strategy of a mix of supplier stocking programs, 3PL’s, supplier pull, etc to drive agility

    • Create the partnership with Sourcing and Finance to execute these strategies in conjunction with the process implementation

  • Centralized planning

    • Develop the strategy and deploy a small centralized organization (relieving some planning responsibilities from factories with overlapping suppliers) to centrally plan and manage;

      • Multi-site supplied

      • Capacity Constraint suppliers

  • Operations Master Data Management Standards

    • Collaborate with divisions, sourcing, IS, etc. to dissect SAP and determine critical master data fields and maintain data integrity to improve planning performance

    • Create standards for Materials planning master data in SAP, including the audit and measurement to defined standards

    • Insures the Planning function follows agreed upon parameters regarding purchased volumes, lead times, and delivery dates including service order requirements

    • Stays current and in compliance with all government regulations, ISO requirements and material flow concepts

    • Other materials related actions as assigned

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA, BS) in Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Business or similar field, with a master’s degree preferred

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in various materials and supply chain disciplines

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in budgeting, production control, inventory control, material planning

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and team building skills. Must have direct supervisory experience.

  • Strong management, communication, and leadership skills. Should be motivated with a positive attitude, with ability to work in a group/team setting

  • Progressive experience in manufacturing environment demonstrating growth in position and/or responsibility

  • Experience with MRP and ERP systems

  • IBP/SIOP experience in a supply planning capacity

  • Experience implementing various material signaling concepts such as kanban, min/max, ROP, MRP

  • Proven experience implementing Lean material flow concepts, systems and tools such as Plan for Every Part (PFEP), pull systems, supermarkets, scheduling boards, tugger routes, etc.

  • Strong analytical skills with the demonstrated ability to analyze multifaceted, complex situations, problems, and concepts

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds

  • Highly self-motivated and directed, able to work well under pressure, manage and prioritize multiple initiatives concurrently, attend to details, and meet deadlines

  • Strong organizational skills, including the ability to be flexible, adaptable, and change priorities and direction as needed, allowing for optimum effectiveness

  • Aptitude and desire to gain understanding of situations, processes, and procedures in an effort to improve them

Preferred:

  • Systems experience with shop floor control

  • APICS or other Materials Planning certification

  • Experience with Lean principles, tools, and systems such as Value Stream Mapping, Material Flow, Visual Management, Standard Work, Change Over, Root Cause Analysis

  • Previous experience with weld, paint, assembly, injection molding or extrusion processes preferred

  • Lean practitioner and/or Six Sigma certification

  • Ability to travel up to 25%

JOB DIMENSIONS:

  • Typical office environment as it pertains to lighting, temperature, and noise level when in administrative/operations offices.

  • Travel up to 25% of the time domestic US

  • Ability to work up to 25% of time in manufacturing and Distribution Center environment to collaborate with teams and identify/implement improvements

  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard and mouse, and to handle other computer components.
