Job Description

Exmark Manufacturing, a division of The Toro Company, is looking for a Robotics Test Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team at our Beatrice, NE location. The ideal candidate is a strong team player possessing a passion for enhancing customer value through validation and verification of robotic and electric products. Problem solving, innovation and resourcefulness will be put to use testing products and features of high value to professional landscape contractors and consumers.

JOB PURPOSE:

Work with product development teams to build confidence and verify performance, durability, and longevity of robotic and electric off-road equipment. Validate mechanical systems, electrical systems, and software through test review and analysis, conducting testing, and certification. Create novel approaches to analyzing surroundings and manipulating mobile equipment within operating environments.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assures that designs meet the requirements of functional safety and any applicable industry or Toro standards.

  • Coordinates work with the team members including but not exclusively: Prototype Shop, Test, Drafting, CAE, Quality, Marketing, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Advanced Manufacturing, Sales, Technical Publications, Administration, and Management. Conducts and participates in regular project team meetings.

  • Responsible for preparing and releasing test documentation maintaining certifications.

  • Serves on product development team to accomplish team goals including: building and updating prototypes, testing prototypes,…..

  • Develop tests in conjunction with the product development team, other test engineers, and technicians that simulate the requirements of the customer. Evaluates test data and makes recommendations to solve identified problems.

  • Creates test plans, tracks progress, and communicates updates to the team

  • Source, develop and coordinate with field test sites.

  • Track/manage fleet of prototype machines

  • Creates data visualization tools and uses them to communicate issues, failure conditions, status, voice of customer feedback, and performance

  • Keeps abreast of new technological developments, industry standards and regulatory requirements related to robotics testing and the competitive environment that would affect the design, coding or testing process.

  • May provide work direction to contractors and consultants to assure that they meet the requirements for function, cost, timing, and quality.

  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

JOB DIMENSIONS:

  • Occasional travel to test sites, distributors, customers, manufacturing facilities, conferences, training and other locations as needed.

  • Ability to work with others in teams to accomplish goals. Includes task and/or project leadership.

  • Must be able to troubleshoot complex multi-disciplinary systems with individual initiative.

  • Must be able to direct the work of others.

APPLICABLE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Engineering or related field of study highly preferred

  • 1-8 years of relevant experience working in multi-disciplinary engineering environments

  • Diadem, MatLAB, and/or LabView

  • RTK GPS, CANBUS troubleshooting

  • Data acquisition with cloud storage

  • Functional Safety Certification

  • Software unit testing

  • ISO 60730 V-model, verifying requirements and properly documenting

  • Scrum
