TTC is looking for a dynamic HR Manager to sit at our corporate office in Bloomington, MN, supporting local functional areas in HR support, and other domestic locations in labor relations.


Provide Human Resources services, support and decision making expertise to assigned units within Operations to ensure a highly productive, motivated, trained and professional work force. Recommend appropriate human resource management actions to meet business needs while supporting the company's commitment to corporate culture and maintaining positive employee and labor relations. Confers with business partners in various areas such as leadership development, talent pool strategies and talent development, change management, performance management, business planning, staffing, conflict management, etc. Supports Sr. Director in managing analytics related to labor and employee relations and developing background materials for annual hourly wage increases, negotiation preparation, etc.



Provide staffing support for assigned business/function as follows:

  • Determine talent implications of strategic plans

  • Assist management in improving organizational effectiveness by analyzing organizational structure and evaluating options that will best meet the needs of the functional area

  • Play an active role in the talent management/succession planning process within each functional group

  • Manage the recruitment process consistent with Toro's philosophy and established practices

  • Assist department managers in analyzing and preparing job descriptions as appropriate

  • Facilitate placement, transfer and promotion activity

  • Manage headcount planning per operational requirements


Provide Human Resources service and support to assigned work groups to include:

  • Salary planning and administration

  • Maintain equity in the administration and interpretation of company pay policies throughout assigned functions that will support talent development within and across specified job families

  • Ensure appropriate communications coincide with salary actions

  • Participate in compilation of data necessary to properly evaluate new or existing positions

  • Lead annual process to determine wage increase recommendations for various manufacturing locations


  • Provide education and support for the annual objective setting (LINC) and performance feedback management systems and processes in Workday

  • Assist business managers in understanding, communicating and completing the objective setting process

  • Assist managers in the use of objectives and performance reviews as coaching tools for individual development

  • Provide assistance to assigned groups with respect to managing annual processes in Workday

  • Provide direction and coaching to managers/supervisors on handling employee performance issues

  • Monitor trends in performance in department and advise/support managers in determining what resources/actions are required to address issues

  • Coach employees on addressing their own performance issues


  • Assist as needed in interpretation of collective bargaining agreement and in supporting the HRBPs at unionized locations

  • Assist as needed in responding to organizing events

  • Develop background materials and assist in preparation for collective bargaining, as required

  • Provide support and assistance during labor negotiations


  • Maintain and enhance a productive work environment by resolving conflicts between management and employees; coaching management on effective management and coaching techniques; and maintaining open communications with associates and management

  • Facilitate the investigation as necessary of employee issues such as: disciplinary actions, employee complaints, allegations of code of conduct or ethical violations, providing guidance and recommendations for problem resolution to management

  • Assist with organizational conflict and/or counseling

  • Respond to and address managers' and employees' general HR needs


  • Promote and model company values to ensure alignment with corporate culture

  • Coordinate team development efforts within groups as appropriate

  • Coordinate and participate in employee activities to further develop employee/company relationships

  • Support and/or lead various employee committees designed to further corporate culture


Works with minimum supervision. Partners with appropriate members of HR Centers of Expertise in order to develop sustainable talent management practices. Assignments are broad in nature, usually requiring originality and ingenuity. Works closely with all levels of employees in areas assigned.


  • Requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 8 plus years of exempt level progressive Human Resource Management experience. Master’s degree, SHRM-SP, or SPHR certification preferred.

  • Broad HR background/experience including:

- Labor relations and grievance processing

-Organizational change

-Organizational/team effectiveness

-Business partnership – part of a business leadership team

-Clear evidence of delivering tangible improvements in business performance through effective design and deployment of programs/practices

  • Strong business acumen and ability to contribute to the business strategy and operational plans

  • Strong evidence of both a strategic and “hands on” leadership orientation

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills; good facilitation skills

  • Ability to analyze and define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions

Demonstrated ability to influence/persuade others and gain acceptance/approval of controversial or innovative ideas/concepts
