Job Description Job Summary: Serves as a front line representative and the first contact the general public has with the Hoċokata Ti and the SMSC. Responsible for a variety of roles within daily reception and retail operational support; provide current, accurate information to visitors concerning the Cultural Center; support programming and answer general museum/tourism information questions. Maintain a high level of guest service by delivering knowledgeable and friendly service with the high standards of excellence that create a dynamic and enriching visitor experience. Job Duties: 
  • Perform open and close gift shop procedures, operate POS system, process ticketing, credit, debit, and cash transactions. Record daily admissions. Ensure daily cash reports and accurate and complete. Provide support as necessary in the Hoċokata Ti Library & Media Center.
  • Provide visitor reception by greeting and directing staff and visitors to the appropriate area as needed. Responds to inquiries from employees, Community members, and external business contacts. Answers telephones, take and relay messages, may transfers calls, and directs the caller to the appropriate staff. Responds to email and voice messages.
  • Provide visitor reception, information and orientation, including information in the form of SMSC outreach brochures, and/or other media.
  • Assist with creating visual merchandising displays and incorporate seasonal themes. Monitor the retail area's physical condition and appearance, ensure security of inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 

Hours of this position: 10:00am - 4:30pm

Days Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday Hiring Rate or Hiring Range $14 / hr PLUS (based on experience) Requirements Reflects MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE required in order to meet the expectations of this job:
  1. 2 years' experience in retail or guest service
  2. Knowledge of Dakota Indian history and culture obtained through coursework or on the job
  3. Excellent public speaking skills
  4. Excellent customer service skills
