Job Description Job Summary: Partner with HR Business Partners, senior leaders and key stakeholders to drive enterprise-wide strategies relative to leadership development, employee/team member learning experiences and leveraging learning system to facilitate eLearning. Create structure, process and experiences that build the leadership capacity of individuals at all levels of the organization. Play a key leadership role in HR strategic initiatives including restructure designs, digital transformation, Respect & Belonging, and engagement and communication. Lead learning and development team to deliver department-level & enterprise-wide training initiatives.   Budget/Asset Responsibilities:
Provides input in the preparation of the departmental budget. Manages areas of assigned responsibility within agreed-to budgeting and planing guidelines.   Areas of Responsibility:
Leadership Learning and Engagement, Communications & partnership with enterprise leaders.   Job Duties:
  • Build credible relationships with leaders at all levels that enable the design and develop engagement and effective programs and initiatives that facilitate the learning and growth of team members/employees and align with organization priorities.
  • Design, develop and deliver high quality, instructor-led and blended leadership development experiences using Insights Discovery for the director-level leaders and above.
  • Facilitate learning, growth, elevation and lateral movement using a variety of techniques and formats such as career pathing, mentoring, coaching, leader / leadership development, job shadowing, succession planning, HIPO programs, etc.
  • Oversee all department-level & enterprise-wide training initiatives including but not limited to: guest experience, employee / team member orientation & onboarding and compliance-related training. Lead talented team of learning and development professionals.
  • Collaborate with HR leaders to execute organization-wide programs such as: performance management; onboarding; integration of purpose, vision, values; goal cascade / strategic planning.
  • Apply organization design, process and change management methodologies; develop frameworks, models, and tools that enhance the OD/OE competency of leaders.
  • Provide support, coaching, and expertise on OD/OE concepts and topics.
  • Apply a data driven approach to measuring the effectiveness of talent, leadership and learning and development programs and to continuously iterate to improve results.
  • Development and enhance SMSC's employee engagement and communication strategy that builds a sense of community across SMSC; strong focus on the enterprise digital strategy
  • Work closely with leadership team to motivate team members and employees to improve business performance during periods of change.
    Ensure leadership team and enterprise is communicating in a consistent, clear way about the changes in the business and the culture we are creating; serve as internal publicist to President/CEO
  • Driving a diverse and inclusive workplace through continued discussion, training, and two-way communication strategies
  • Responsible for the SMSC's reward and recognition program
  • Design and manage SMSC's approach to leadership readiness, leadership onboarding, and leadership development for leadership at all levels -- supervisors to executives and individual contributors that lead indirectly
  • Build SMSC's leadership philosophy, building on a common language and framework unites SMSC and all its enterprises
  • Own SMSC's roadmap for building and maintaining our leadership development programs
  • Chart the future of the leadership development function at SMSC and provide expert partnership on function-specific and individual leadership development needs
  • Serve as an ambassador of SMSC's Purpose, Vision, and Values and SMSC's Dakota Values.
  • Introduce relevant, innovative learning opportunities that have demonstrable impact on SMSC and its enterprises
  • In partnership with the Vice President of HR, lead the enterprises' diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) strategy and initiatives and serve as an active leader and voice for diversity, equity and inclusion
  • In partnership with leadership, provide vision, leadership, coordination and strategic oversight regarding equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Partner with HRBP team on internal work on diversity, equity and inclusion and implement systems and ongoing training designed to encourage sometimes difficult but necessary conversations.

Reflects MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING, CERTIFICATION and EXPERIENCE required in order to meet the expectations of this job:
  • 8+ years of progressive management or leadership experience in HR, Leadership, Marketing, Internal Communications or a combination of the functions; including 5+ years as a people Leader of a professional staff.
  • 6+ Years developing Engagement and/or L & D programs
  • BS/BA required; Masters preferred;
  • Broad exposure to a variety of Human Resources functions, including HR strategy, culture development, change management, employee retention, internal branding, organization development.
  • Proven and successful experience leading organizational design, organizational effectiveness and development initiatives.
  • Able to establish a constructive and informative relationship with team members, leadership and executives.
  • Strategic thinker who can see the big picture, interpret business strategy and translate to short/long term objectives and tactical application.
  • A leader with a proven track record of delivering results.
  • High level of personal integrity, ethics, initiative, and strong communication skills (interpersonal, written, presentation and facilitation).
  • Broad business sense as well as demonstrated HR-specific competencies.
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong working relationships at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to present ideas in an easy-to-understand and engaging manner.
  • Proven ability to challenge and motivate management teams to foster innovation in an atmosphere of mutual respect and inclusion.
