Position Description

This position is responsible to oversee UCare/BPO encounters processes on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis per a defined and regimented schedule. Reconcile between systems and data sources to ensure accuracy and completion of encounter submissions. Subject matter expert on encounters including datasets for submission, reporting and remediation. Lead the strengthening of cross-departmental encounter partnerships as a member of all encounter project work teams. Create, perform, and test encounters datasets and processes. Proactively identify and adapt to new regulatory changes that impact encounters process.

• Lead encounters reporting efforts for UCare's lines of business and any BPO arrangements. Develop, improve, and monitor reports and analysis related to encounter submission performance and other assigned projects.

• Monitor completeness of UCare encounter submissions and BPO submissions through a monthly reconciliation process. Work with Information Technology (IT) to ensure submission process is compliant and deadlines met. Identify variances through reporting and resolve through the Encounter Scrum team.

• Support any annual or ad hoc audits. Support Risk Adjustment AD with external audit requests. Maintain audit ready documentation for UCare Encounter processes/submissions/reconciliation.

• Serve as liaison with the IT department. Partner with the Encounter Scrum Business Analyst to define project direction and participate in project meetings with technical, business and project management staff. Act as business SME with the Encounter Scrum Team.

• Facilitate creative discussions to develop solutions to project requirements. Communicate project updates as necessary to the Risk Adjustment AD and technology teams.

• Support financial, operational and strategic initiatives through CMS and DHS data sweeps, ad hoc and standard reports. Maintain documentation on standard report processes and procedures.

• Annual review of contract changes along with maintaining a strong understanding of encounter submission requirements (DHS, CMS, MDH & Exchange) per associated contract. Work with UCare internal staff to ensure any proposed changes to encounter submissions are remediated. Help implement changes and improvements developed by the SCRUM team.

• Maintain a thorough understanding of data structure within UCare's claims adjudication system, and product lines including BPO arrangements.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.


B.A./B.S. in Finance, Economics or Data Science related field preferred; demonstrated analytical and project management experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Experience

Three years of reporting, analysis, data, or statistics-based experience. Excel skills. SQL skills. Strong attention to detail. Data mining, consolidation, and new report generation. Professional desk documentation creation.

Preferred Experience

Reporting, analysis, data, or statistics-based experience in a mid to large size organization. Exposure to Access skills. Health insurance industry experience. Risk adjustment or statistical background.
