Work Location: In the office or hybrid (in the office 3 or more days per week)

Position Description

This position is responsible for overseeing daily operations of the Triage Team. Serve as the first point of contact for the team and other departments regarding the triage processes. Provides day-to-day supervision for all members of the Triage Team and participates in recruiting, hiring, training, developing, coaching and mentoring individual team members. This position engages in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the Triage area to ensure UCare's efforts in delivering an excellent provider experience.

• Coach, mentor, and supervise the Triage Team to ensure positive provider experience by effectively resolving systemic payment and service issues in a timely manner.

• Recruit, interview and hire staff. Schedule and oversee onboarding experience.

• Establish work assignments, set goals for performance, conduct one on ones and ensure team understand their duties or delegated tasks.

• Maintain positive and professional working relationship with staff and other departments to ensure departmental or cross-departmental issues are resolved in a timely manner.

• Document and provide performance feedback in a timely manner. Maintain timekeeping and personnel records.

• Evolve UCare's provider issue resolution process. Regularly evaluates progress and reports progress.

• Identify issues where provider education and/or communication is needed.

• Represent Provider Services on various work groups and committees, as assigned and attend external provider meetings when needed.

• Ensure adherence to legal compliance and UCare's policies and procedures.

• Serve as a backup for any team member and assists manager and director.

• Other projects and duties as assigned.


Bachelor's degree; demonstrated experience may be considered in lieu of degree.

Required Experience

Three years of experience in health care billing and/or payment setting. Examples include health plan claims processing, provider assistance center, provider network management or account management. Demonstrated ability to successfully work in matrixed/cross-departmental environments. Demonstrated staff supervisory experience.

Preferred Experience

Provider services experience. Knowledge of health care claims processing and systems. Knowledge of State Public Programs, Medicare, and commercial health plan products. Project management, mentoring/training, supervision and critical thinking experience. SharePoint and Microsoft software proficiency.
