As a Senior Copywriter, you will be a part of the Target Creative team and help drive and lead the Multicultural marketing presence of Target, with a concentration on multicultural work. You'll develop innovative, effective and authentic creative executions that build brand equity, strengthen guest loyalty within the multicultural audience and, ultimately, drive sales. Specifically, you'll use your skills, experience and talents to develop big-picture and innovative ideas for advertising campaigns and the in-store environment. You will work on a wide range of projects including Multicultural-specific campaigns, in collaboration with a Designer, Art Director, Creative Director, Strategist and Project Manager.

You'll then be responsible for bringing each idea to life by crafting headlines, scripts and supporting copy that are consistently in tune with the Target brand voice, grounded in each project's individual strategy and resonate with our guests. You'll also help lead in the preparation of pitches and presentations, as well as see all work through every phase of production.

In this position, you'll ultimately champion the company's purpose, values and direction, while supporting Target Creative's strategies, goals and objectives. You must be comfortable in white space and working with ambiguity as well as have the ability to take on a wide range of projects and balance a large capacity of work across all media types. You'll be challenged to stay current with cultural, multicultural and writing trends and seek creative solutions to overcome obstacles. In addition, you'll be asked to step in to lead and guide work when needed, offer a multicultural perspective and provide feedback, coaching and guidance when appropriate to enhance others' skill development, including mentorships.

What we're looking for:

  • 4-year college degree and/or equivalent experience

  • 5+ years creative multicultural marketing experience and/or a mastery of writing
  • Portfolio of creative work showcasing exceptional creative and conceptual writing across a wide range of business or brand categories and channels, including multicultural examples
  • Deep knowledge and expertise of best practices across all media types
  • Idea-first messaging approach and ability to apply a strategic lens to writing
  • Skilled in managing and executing complex projects at many different stages

  • Comfortable working within white space and ambiguity

  • Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills
  • Ability to provide feedback, coaching and guidance along with leading project work
  • Passionate about creating authentic multicultural marketing
